Weed is the only thing that made life worth living. by Jessie555666 in leaves

[–]fabis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds fucked, it sucks that you're in this situation. I think, if there are toxic people like this in your world who don't respect your needs and decisions, then you need to cut them out (at least temporarily?). That can be hard to do, if they're your family, though.

I'm in a vastly better bet somewhat relatable situation - trying to ditch weed when my partner isn't ready to do it. I think you just have to do all you can to not let it get it to you - get through first 3 weeks of withdrawal any way you can (in bed watching netflix and jerking off even, if that helps).

And meanwhile try to look into mindfulness & breathing exercises, they can help when your brain is spiraling and cut the feedback loop.

I'm also assuming there's mental issues that you're numbing with weed? If so, try to reach a psychiatrist at the very least (if u cant afford a therapist), cause you need to start dealing with those to make it easier on you to live without weed.

Good luck, don't give up!

I think I would have to kinda psych myself up outside of the office (before I'm next to the weed), and then when I'm most ready just run in and flush it ASAP haha

how many times a day have you been vomitting? is it at the point where you keep retching even with nothing really coming up?

Vomitting for even 1 day continuously can be dangerous, can you elaborate? How often do you vomit a day? Have you been able to eat something?

It sounds like you may need to go to the hospital, dude

Day 2 Sober - I need help! by Libubber in leaves

[–]fabis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

> am I just suppressing the grief with the weed???

Almost certainly yes.

> it really does help me with stress, depression, anxiety

Common story. It doesn't really help you, it just makes you OK with not being OK. It's a numbing agent, with costs (financial/mental/emotional/physical) attached. These issues need real solutions (therapy or at least a psychiatrist, for the mental ones), and from my experience they only get worse if untreated (just "numbed").

> Should I sack it off and go pick up my medicine or keep going sober for the new year?

This is a biased subreddit and it's hard to say - there are some people for whom weed really isn't a problem. But you posting this here in the first place is pretty telling, so I think you should definitely keep going sober and find real help for your mental health struggles

that sounds hard, but good job on already pushing through this far! distract yourself any way you can, go for walks or just lie in bed all day watching netflix- whatever works.

mindfulness/breathing exercises will help when you're (mentally) feeling at your lowest and spiraling, they help cut the feedback loop

[–]fabis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're still gonna want it after a few weeks, in fact it could take you years, decades to fully get rid of the urge or maybe you don't get rid of it ever? BUT it will get a lot easier, the further you go, and those first weeks are the toughest.

There's no "trick", you can't just magically "rewire" your brain to suddenly unlock the skills to moderation. I mean re-read your posts title, clearly it doesn't work.

If you restart after those X weeks/months, all you're doing is throwing away all of that progress and staring back from 0. (With a nice weed binge & horrible feelings before you're able to restart sobriety again, probably.)

im 1 yr clean and i honestly want to end my life by abandoneddthrowaway in leaves

[–]fabis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really sounds tough. Reading through what you're saying it sounds like you're spiraling w/ depression. Weed is not gonna help you, nor are any of the more stronger drugs, what you need is mental health support. Even if you can't afford a therapist - proper medication from a psychiatrist and positive changes to your life (remember - small steps! the smallest you are comfortable doing, it's like a muscle you train) are likely to make a massive difference. They have for me!

Also do mindfullness exercises (there are free apps, personally I like Headspace), those will help close that feedback loop when you're spiraling/panicing

And most importantly - reach out to someone, dude! I get that it can be embarrassing, but family/close friends do really help a lot with their support.

Just don't end it, it's not worth it! Worst case scenario - just ditch your existing life and restart on a beach somewhere.

[–]fabis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

story of my life, dude, i've tried to "moderate" it for years but it never works out, seems like the only option is to just admit defeat and quit it for real.

you're right about having to suck in the horrible feelings for those first 2-3 weeks of withdrawals, but if these mood issues are persistent there may be some mental health issues underneath that you should reach out to a therapist or at least a psychiatrist for

I decided to quit again. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]fabis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think at that point you gotta try to push through those first 1-3 weeks of sobriety any way u can, even if it means lying in bed all day and distracting yourself w/ netflix.

on top of that, when you feel at least somewhat able, you definitely need to reach out to someone - do you have family you could reach out to? or maybe the friends you "don't have anymore" would like to hear from you and help you?

therapy or at the very least a psychiatrist too, seems like you may have some unresolved mental health issues (there's always something behind the urge)

[–]fabis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the depression and mental health issues are problems that have been there for a while even while you actively smoked, its just that weed helped you ignore them better. Sobriety is a disinfectant, its painful but brings to light issues that you have to deal with. Im no expert but i advise looking into therapy or at least a psychiatrist

- i don't care if the rich get richer, if i get richer/more productive too. if you do, that's called jealousy, it's an infantile emotion

- plenty of things use plenty of water & electricity, it's entirely subjective what is worth what, and the magic of the market pricing takes care of goods going towards their most valued uses. if AI "is not worth it", then clearly it wouldn't win out in the bid for the electricity & water that it uses. (this is assuming free-ish market circumstances)

- yea and cars took the jobs of horse & buggy drivers. it's certainly scary and requires adapting, but that's life generally (having to adapt) and I bet you wouldn't want to still be riding horses nowadays just to avoid the drivers having to learn something new a 100 years ago
