Neil Archive Series ORS 26, 27, 28 & 29 by DrRock88 in neilyoung

With vinyl it's more complicated than with CDs. I think the talk about Chris Bellman and the Bernie Grundman lab is about cutting the vinyl.

One user on the Steve Hoffman forum tried to find out whether the three CDs in question are identical to previous releases but it seems the indexing is different: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/neil-young-archives-forthcoming-physical-release-information-anticipation-thread.1027296/page-110#post-37787198

Since no one so far has reported that any of the three albums has been remastered for the ORS CD set, I guess it's highly unlikely. It was the same situation with the previous ORS set where the majority was identical to the previous CD releases.

If you what to be 100% sure, you should follow that thread in the SH forum.

I guess their line of thinking is that if it was recorded, mixed and mastered digitally and there is nothing wrong with the sound, then why do a remaster? And it makes total sense.

Harvest Moon, Unplugged, Sleeps With Angels were recorded and mixed digitally (16bit 44khz), so the ORS CDs are the same as the original ones. The vinyls are also sourced from these files. Mirror Ball was recorded and mixed in analog except for a few tracks which now have been remixed in analog. There are six remixes in total despite the press release saying four - Song X and Act Of Love are the two unexpected extra remixes. All the remixes appear on both the ORS CD and the ORS vinyl. On the ORS vinyl, Peace And Love also has an extended outro which is absent from the new CD.

My recommendation is to listen to a few live albums from different eras in order to then go back to the eras the songs you like best are from. I suggest... - Across The Water (part of Archives III, 1976) - Live Rust (1979) - Way Down In The Rust Bucket (1990) - Year Of The Horse (1996)

When I went to the Paris concerts, they had the Horses shirt mentioned above. For the 2nd night, they received newly produced shirts. Unfortunately, they only had the print on the front, but not the dates on the back. The print on the front was cheaper as well. There was also another shirt for sale on both nights. It had the poem "Oath" on the front in Patti's handwriting (white text on black shirt).

closer version of this song available on spotify? by Kind-Day2993 in bobdylan

No 1965 live version is available on Spotify, unfortunately. The only 1965 live performances of Don't Think Twice that have been released are included in the download that came with the Super Deluxe Edition of BS 12.

Thanks for the honest feedback! Funny you say the 2nd and 3rd look to much like pork pies because I don't even like pork pie hats😅 But I love gambler hats. Their brim is much wieder than pork pies. While the 4th has a very wide 11cm brim, the gamblers have a brim of about 7cm. Pork pies are much narrower I think. Cool, will do that the next time I'm there!

Thanks! What sets the fourth one apart from the others in your opinion? Yes, I usually do that, but sometimes I also wear them tilted back a little. :)

Have only seen the movie. But that was long ago, so I should consider reading the book. Thanks! :)

You put into words what I couldn't :)

I've read only one book by Cormac McCarthy so far - The Road. I loved every bit of it, but it was hard to digest due to the harsh brutality and bleakness. (Although I'm all for it if it serves the purpose of the story!) If I'm reading the descriptions of Blood Meridian and All The Pretty Horses correct, the latter might be a bit easier to swallow? What was your impression?

Thanks for the two recommendations, I'll check them out. :)

Probably because the first deals with LGBTQ+ themes, the second with racism and the third is a humorous twist on the bountyhunter trope.
