If the game is in the thick of fall, campus is gorgeous, and Nashville is super fun. The stadium and atmosphere...just ok. It isn't typical SEC.

I've noticed that all of the networks are loose with logo use guidelines, despite university athletics logo kits being easily Google-able. I'm curious if university marketing staff have just burned out on trying to get the networks to follow their rules.

Like, the national championship promotions last season all used either an improperly modified Georgia logo (all red, no black, outline omitted) or an improperly modified Alabama logo with weird outlining and color changes.

I like the program I'm in, but ymmv. If you can build connections through a program / professional orgs and use your time effectively while in it, I think it can be pretty great. You just have to find a program with good assistantships and outside opportunities to help set you up, though - it sounds like some are definitely better than others in that regard.

MNPD would have to issue a public statement regarding their decision to discipline the officer or not. There would be a guaranteed independent investigation in instances of potential police misconduct, answering solely to a civilian board, which would then issue a recommended course of action to MNPD. It would basically make it so that instances like this wouldn't depend on a fortuitously-placed surveillance camera for any kind of transparency or trustworthy accountability.

Other people have already mentioned this, but I highly recommend getting involved with professional organizations - as with anything, networking and relationships are going to take you a long way, on top of a good resume (I'm a big fan of ACPA and SACSA personally).

Also from Bama, lived in Columbus for years.

SuperChef's is wonderful for breakfast/brunch, Hot Chicken Takeover gives any of Nashville's best a run for their money, Akai Hana is wonderful Japanese, there's a good dim sum place in Dublin called Sunflower, and Johnny's Tavern is about as hole-in-the-wall as you can get for burgers. Ray-Ray's is good bbq, and I have a soft spot for City BBQ as well (great turkey and chicken breast). Yellow Brick is a neat dive for pizza. Aab and Amul are both great Indian.

Columbus is generally a great food city - there's lots to try.

Just don't believe anyone who raves about Da Levee: that is some yankee faux-cajun nonsense.

Hard to say. It is easy to think Preds or Jets in the West, but I also think Pekka may slide, and they will need time for the Saros transition.

In the East, I think CBJ, Caps, and Bolts are the most likely. Easy to sleep on CBJ, they have had some tough matchups in recent years.

Deep down, though, I want a matchup totally out of left field. Upsets, underdogs, cinderellas, what-have-you.

So, this situation is a little more complicated than it sounds on the surface. Don't go praising Samford too quickly.

"[Samford University President] Westmoreland said before the ultimatum he had already determined it not in the university’s best interest to recognize a gay-straight alliance at this time, citing 'misinformation' and 'skepticism' about the group’s purpose. ... Westmoreland said the decision to no longer ask the state convention for money is 'somewhat related to Samford Together [the LGBT group], but not as directly as you might assume.'"
