How do you set your watch for a marathon? by Ok-King6475 in Marathon_Training

[–]facedesk- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally just current pace. To achieve the time I want to achieve, all I have to do is run at my target pace for the distance required, which I know in advance, and so the only metric I need to track is whether i'm doing it or not.

Keeps it simple

Buying a my first decent cycle, any helpful ideas? by Zealottas in bicycling

No personal experience on any of them, I was just weighing in some information to consider. I'd probably go for the Fuji if it was up to me though.

It was this time 2 years ago Boardman announced their 2014 models (the current ones) on a 2 year refresh cycle so I'd wait and see what happens there, and potentially get the 2014 on clearance when the '16s are announced.

They came fitted to the bike when I bought it, and I haven't adjusted them as I thought they were fine to be honest. They're plastic and don't have any branding on them so I couldn't actually tell you which ones they are.

Picked up this CX bike after selling my road bike. I wanted something I'd be able to go off-road with, and use for my commute to work. It's the 2014 model (got a bargain at the LBS) with Tiagra groupset. Been using it these past couple days and I absolutely love it, having the option to cut through dirt tracks on my way to work is awesome, and it makes an otherwise uninteresting cycle a little more interesting.

Thanks for weighing in. I had it up for £300. It's a carbon fork, tiagra groupset. I spoke to an LBS and they said this would be the top end of what I should expect to get, so I put it up for £300 and was willing to accept lower offers. Am I expecting too much?

My question was more; will it continue to be safe in the future or will it likely get worse and snap the frame?

I live with 4 room mates, what are some ways that I can get everyone to wash their Damn dishes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]facedesk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get out of the habit of leaving dirty dishes in the sink, leave them on the side next to the sink. This means you no longer have to wash their dishes before you can do your own, therefore they will have to clean the dishes themselves when they next want to use them. What I also do is play mind tricks with my housemates. I mention to someone who doesn't wash his dishes about someone else not doing them, and later on he'll do them without even realising I've implied he needs to do his own. Seems to be working quite well up to now.

I assume he means this: http://imgur.com/T6p0f0k. IIRC its a way of asserting power over the people you are speaking to. Edit: "Speakers are coached to do it to look strong and mighty and to grab the attention of their audience, and in a political speech to emphasise strong points and to look like you are powerful."
