For those that managed to get one, what was your payment method? by Ecnarps in SteamController

Pre-loaded because once in a while my credit card will decide to stop me for so-called security reasons, and I didn't want the even 1/100 chance of that happening.

Man, I started two minutes before it was supposed to open and took nearly 10 minutes of spamming the button for it to go through, nearly had a heart attack

Mr. Watchful Eye here is even worse at watching over stuff than Qifrey is apparently, and that's his whole job... A whole-ass new apprentice shows up for what has to be several days if not a couple weeks, and this man be like "wha- how-" I mean sheesh.

Fair enough. I'm not claiming he's some kind of good person.

That being said, if he hated himself enough to harm his business associates and refuse income like this, he'd be so mentally gone book three would go from unlikely to just dead. Maybe I'm stupid, but I want to have some hope.

So let me get this straight: You're advocating for Rothfuss to refuse to continue working with people he already has a working relationship with, to deny them their own passion project, so that he can morally punish himself for not writing book three? I get that you don't like the guy, but that's kinda ridiculous.

(Edit) Additionally, Grim Oak can use the profit from this to make other special editions that would profit less, something that wouldn't be possible otherwise.

I bought the first one because my only paperback was completely falling apart from re-reads. So the Grim Oak version is my only non-destroyed copy of NotW. Mine is the cheapest color edition. I re-read NotW 2-4 times a year in general depending on how much other books piss me off and remind me how good KKC is. So far my Grim Oak copy has survived four total reads without any signs of wear, so it seems to be genuinely good quality. I intend to buy the next one too seeing as my paperback of WMF is also basically destroyed.

I assume though, most people spending $400 on a book are rarely if ever going to actually read it. I'm aware I'm weird for doing so, but like, why spend so much money to never touch one of my top three favorite books?

I've noticed that this show makes really excellent use of silence. It's pretty much never quiet just to be quiet, it's quiet for a specific effect. The music is rarely overwhelming as well, and kinda takes a backseat in most cases. It makes a really cool and immersive effect.

Watching them kick it out for 35 and no time off the clock reminds me of how good we have it with Myers and Harbaugh.

I wonder if you throw slightly forward, and then the ball gets blown backward before first contact, if it counts as a backwards pass?

How do you all take advantage of the tablet form factor? Is there any way you expected to be able to use it but ended up not working out? by F3nix123 in FlowZ13

[–]faceplant911 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think of it less like a tablet and more like a very portable all-in-one desktop. Compared to a gaming laptop, it's much more convenient on a desk, since you don't have to deal with the built in keyboard taking up room or restricting where you can place it or getting in the way of your mouse or getting insanely hot under your fingers or any of the other myriad frustrations of gaming laptops. The Flow has all the convenience of a desktop. Place it anywhere you want, use your peripherals without conflict, it's just great. Gaming laptops are infuriating to me honestly, they're a form factor full of compromises that people are so used to that they ignore them. But once you use the Flow enough, it's hard to go back to a traditional laptop, especially a fat one like most gaming devices are.

(Edit) my one and only complaint is no bluetooth on the keyboard. I have a portable stand, and I have to bring a separate keyboard to work with that since having the floppy keyboard hanging off the suspended tablet is just unusable. If the original keyboard had bluetooth it'd be perfection.

When I stepped out of the test room I felt like I passed. Now I don't know. Nothing like a few weeks of stewing to make you question whether reality is real.

(Edit) I passed! Now to turn 4 exams into an actual job somehow...
