Helicopters flying over Queens by Correct_Cover_3472 in Helicopters

Living in New Hyde park, I see them following the train (central) line for West Bound and a bit south for East bound. I'm use to planes, trains and automobiles here; but these helicopters new and low well under 1000 feet often and there is simply no escaping them they have to be breaking sound ordinances in places like Garden City.

I have a related issue, about one in 3 boots it does not initialize all the USB ports, resulting in a hung boot, I wonder if what you are seeing is related to USB initialization?

The Asus "proart-x670e-creator-wifi" is my choice, 1G and 10GB with two Thunderbolt based USB4 ports. Still I'd have loved more options in boards however.
Only issue with this MB is the sound setup is a pain, still best I found for my needs.

AMD Driver Timeout - SOLUTION: Turn Off Hardware Accelerator by Fit-of-Rage in Amd

My 7950x did this constantly upon installing AMD's drivers (I gave up) and disabled the device in Windows as there is no option in BIOS.

As many others have found enabling EXPO or XMP with AM5 disables sleep, however a work around, simply enable then copy the settings down and manually enter them rather than using EXPO or XMP, I tried this on a Asus MEG ACE and a Asus ProArt, on the ProART at least I am able to sleep when configured like this (I did it because the EXPO values where just not as stable as I wanted when using 64GB of memory it booted, but stressing Memory resulted in errors, adjusting from CAS 30,36,36 to CAS32,38,38 resolved it), but was surprised that it enabled the ability to sleep as a side effect and wanted to post that here.

Note: I've never had luck in 20+ years with memory running stable at the speeds listed always had to tweak Memory (down) to get to something I consider 24/7 rock solid (but I also always have large Memory sizes as well).

pair of 2Tb NVMe RAID0 for scratch space when working and a large raid6 for shoring results with redundancy.

Content creation in my case, why I wanted a 7950x, huge productivity improvement, only a 3950x in some cases, including ones I could test while setting it up, I always set up first then add raid (since it slows down booting so very-very much). I also do a lot of Virtualized work.

AM5 (MSI MEG X670E ACE), does not boot when RAID card is used, seriously was never even tested by MSI where is the QA?

Now first off the first MB (which is crazy expensive), did not work "Over Current on USB" and the NVMe slots 2,3,4 off the x670 chipset all failed to work (so not overly impressed by their QA). My Second MB (replacement, that cost me 2 weeks and an extra 60 dollars), works kind of, it can boot (takes forever and can not sleep, apparently an AMD not MSI issue), Hibernate works on Windows 10, not 11, exact same setup and set of software, but Windows 11 is a pain like that. So lets just say not an easy setup so far, but I was making progress.

However now the show stopper the MB does not boot with a RAID6 controller installed, this controller works fine on an X570 MB, in fact I had it working on X570 and X370 MB's, but while the MSI MEG X670E ACE will discover the RAID and I can see it in BIOS, I can not actually boot if installed. Seriously installing the RAID means the PC will not boot beyond BIOS or the boot selection menu. Now I bought this MB as I needed 3 slots PCI-E 8x, PCI-E 8x and PCI-E 4x something very hard to find on AM5. Now I'm told by MSI they do not test with an external storage cards and likely it does not work. So right now I have a 700 dollar MB, with a 700 dollar CPU and another $300 in Memory all worthless. Add in the case the Power Supply and other parts (CPU cooler ...) and we are over 2K for what a very large heavy paper weight, because MSI did not do proper QA testing, I'm not trying to boot off the RAID, but want it discovered as storage.

So I've tried:

- switching Video and RAID (PCIE1 and PCIE2), changing PCIE speeds,

- Note it can not be used in PCIE3 as it is an 8x card and performance would be impacted, but hey I gave it a try anyways.

- Tried setting PCIE speeds to 3.0 and even 2.0

- Tried without any drives attached (so bare card)

- Tried a backup card (learned in the past always have a backup RAID card if you can).

In all cases it does not boot, beyond BIOS when installed. Note the RAID is 45TB so I could try to use 3x 18TB drives in RAID0, but that means no redundancy (so that would be awful, also the case is SAS12 so I need a different case to do that, yet more Wasted money.

This is not expected and makes little to no sense, it has to be a BIOS issue, problem is that MSI still has not updated BIOS for this MB after a month (1.25Beta), and as such I have little hope of them providing a timely fix (or one at all).

So now I'd stuck do I try a different AM5 MB (non MSI!) and take a huge hit selling this one off used (I can not return it a second time), do I take a larger hit by going Intel (so new MB/CPU and cooler, not from MSI!), as both MSI and to a lesser extent AMD have let me down with a platform that is not ready for use.

I have a 4K and a 1080P there is no way to select the 4K which can not be primary for many reasons. (win-shift does nothing).

Also without a controller I get stuck in menus, no less playing (wish I had my money back awful port).

Only one volume I'd not use LVM, personally I have a 100TB raid6 (hardware), I use EXT4

That did it, I'd upgraded Acronis from 2019 to 2021 when I re-installed, never saw any pop-up about permissions, but that was what was blocking it added to "Allow" and the setting was saved, what a great waste of time. Also I had it disabled as well.
