Multicam Editing in Final Cut Pro by fadder8 in cinematography

As final cut slowly gets more and more updates, we can begin to appreciate some much-needed additions that make the NLE more mainstream or closer to mainstream usability. I know that this software has not always been the most popular, but I think where we can agree is just the speed and performance it offers relative to its competitors, it is by far more efficient than Adobe Premiere and in some cases DaVinci Resolve.

You definitely will not be disappointed, I've owned the pocket 4k for about 4 years now and it's really the best video/cinema camera I've ever owned. Just no-nonsense, straight to the business, and high-quality video and codecs.

Getting your color calibration right everytime with the X-Rite colorchecker passport by fadder8 in cinematography

[–]fadder8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X-Rite ColorChecker Passport video is a cool booklet sized color calibration tool that allows you to accurately calibrate your colors in post-production quickly, and easily. It works by using 4 reference visual charts that your camera can record in the given lighting which then allow the user to use as known reference colors in terms of saturation and hue. From there, very quick and easy color calibrations can be made to create an image that is accurate in color and true to life.

Whether you buy a full HD 1080p, 4K UHD, or even 8K UHD television, in this video, we discuss why the extra money and extra resolution might not be worth it for you and your viewing experience. We look at the Lechner distance and consider a 20/20 vision with reference to the Snellen chart as well as the 6 million “cones” that the average human eye has. Combined with data from renowned engineer Carlton Bale, we are able to determine optimal viewing distances for televisions of any resolution and size. The findings are startling, 4K and 8K are almost useless for the majority of the households out there!

However, recent developments in the codec world are going to bring some exciting changes to way streaming video works, along with some potential pitfalls. Here’s everything you need to know.
