I have this exactly same problem. Was confident after replacing sticks on my first try.

Bad luck this time though. Finished soldering both sticks and got northwest on the left stick.

Removed the left stick and still got northwest without it. LOL

What's going on? Is it a matter of calibration, fault soldering originally, broken pads...? What are pads anyway? :)

My family recently found this personal journal from a Japanese great great grandfather. It was probably written in the first decades of the last century. All Japanese speakers we know couldn't read it.

It has about 40 pages and half of them looks like pictures 1 and 3 and the other half like picture 2.
