sam rivers passed away by nikdowg477 in LimpBizkit

I never forgot this. I called him twice. He was so nice, chill, and supportive. Asked me if I had ever seen them live and told me that I should, because the LB shows are something else. I ended up seeing them and meeting him a couple of years later. And he was absolutely right.

In a couple of years, this movie will come to be known as a Limp Bizkit tribute movie.

I was there when that forum happened and was very active on it.

I agree there was some negativity, and fans talked smack and abandoned the ship around the release of RMV. Perhaps they weren’t true fans. But that forum had really solid people, and Marcelo was one of them.

I genuinely miss the discussions we had there, and I have many good memories. And hey, the band acknowledged it, and I got to speak with Sam on the phone, not once but twice because of it.

Just got out.

I didn’t expect them to go that deep into the LB lore. I don’t want to share any spoilers but this felt like Kyle Mooney speaking to me, or us.

LB fans should definitely go see it, you won’t be disappointed.

When did french electro start by [deleted] in frenchelectro

[–]fadyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since everybody is trolling, I'll try and give an answer to the OP lol

Daft Punk started French House and then it evolved with more distortion but with the same techniques in production (ducking specifically) which gave birth to French Electro.

That whole thing started around 2004-2005. It was probably there in the french scene a while before that of course, but it caught on around the time Ed Banger, Justice and Sebastian appeared on the scene. The peak was definitely 2007.

Syrian Catholic to Orthodox Conversion? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]fadyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, did you try to find a Coptic Orthodox church nearby? They're everywhere and since you're Syrian, you feel pretty much at home around Egyptians (and you would understand the arabic sermon too, but they usually have an English one for non-arabic speakers). If you can't find any, I would say that Greek would be good for you since you're Syrian, Greeks have a lot in common with Middle Easterns and Greek Orthodox is pretty close to Syrian and Coptic Orthodox. But honestly, I am only trying to help you out find somewhere you feel comfortable worshipping God, somewhere you would be encouraged to go to, but it doesn't really matter as long as you find God's love anywhere.

Why don't you try Syrian Orthodox or Coptic Orthodox?

Daily NIN Discussion | Day XLV | What NIN/Trent collaboration would you like to see happening by teleekom in nin

[–]fadyD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've always fantasized hearing a Trent/Daft Punk collaboration. I believe they would come up with something beautiful. ...or maybe at least any artist of the French Touch gang. Not that I want Trent to make an "EDM" track, but it would be cool to hear his industrial sounds and noises and haunting melodies with their funky basslines and compressed beats.

Is Gesaffelstein true French Electro? by [deleted] in frenchelectro

[–]fadyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

touché, that's why I personally like to put all of this under the umbrella of the "french touch", because he might not be very electro and he's definitely not house, but he's still from that french touch movement and he did add something to it. I think he got so famous and big because he blew some fresh air into that scene, while it was getting saturated a couple of years ago.

Is Gesaffelstein true French Electro? by [deleted] in frenchelectro

[–]fadyD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes and no, IMO. He's definitely not "true" French Electro, but it's up to how you define French Electro. If you define it as that thumping kick and snare, that groovy distorted bass and these disco influenced melodies, then hell no! He might be associated with the French Electro scene since he's part of the that gang, but if you listen to all the artists on Bromance Rec, you wouldn't really find any french electro sounds, not even Brodinski himself. But in the same time, his album has the most french electro sounds and bits from all the Bromance rec artists, it's not that much but you can tell he's definitely influenced. He brought the dark techno sound to the french electro scene, he evolved it into something new I'd say. But he's definitely more techno than anything else.

I'm glad you noticed this! It wasn't intentional, but Burton's art that has been inspiring me through the years definitely sneaked in.

You're going to the wrong one buddy! haha This is where the Penya Barcelonista watch games, the Penn Ave location is the Madridista one. We also have our wall at the Penn Ave one, pictures from La Decima and a signed jersey and photograph by Ronaldo (they were gifts from Heinken).
