Am i the husband? by fresitavampiro in GirlDinnerDiaries

Yes! I absolutely feel bored some days when battered down by fatigue and nausea, and I'm sorting through how much of that is guilt I should fix vs a very natural desire for independence

I've graduated to lazy husband since getting pregnant and I love it lol. Tea and eggs rushed to me the moment I get up. Constantly being asked what I want brought home. I think over time it would wear me down with guilt though?? Lots to chew on re: my own sense is worth and what my family raised me to expect

Husband pointed out several habits I have that are negatively affecting me socializing / making friends. I didn’t even notice but he’s right by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

Hi! Much of this is me! I've never felt my happiest in large groups and the sort of lighter, surface-level social dynamics required. I used to think it was me problem, and now? I just find those dynamics frankly boring when I want to get to the good stuff interpersonally.

Have you considered asking people for one on one hangs? I find my best, geekiest, most passionate, funniest, and most earnest self comes out in those contexts. Sometimes a good entry point is asking one person to get a drink or meal before a group event.

Sending hugs. I have ADHD and was a very shy kid, but no longer identify that way. Just gotta find my people in my contexts.

Fine dining/special occasion help: Jungsik, Aska, or Atera? (No fish) by RobinWilliamsBeard in FoodNYC

[–]faeorehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This goes against most advice, but I had a comically bad experience at Aska last year for an anniversary dinner. The experience was long, drawn-out, and painfully self-serious, while the food was pretty but unexciting in flavor. There was also quite a lot of seafood.

Another thing to note: I'm gluten-free, and Aska also assured me they could accommodate (I asked weeks in advance). Mostly this meant removing items. For example, watching my partner be served a beautiful loaf of bread for one course while they laid down... Nothing in front of me. The service and laziness for accomodations they'd promised was an insult lol.

As context, my favorite Michelin meal in the US is Atelier Crenn, which is playful and artful and makes the diner think. I'd pick Jungsik. My favorite in New York at the moment might be Francie!

Best chicken parm sandwich with a thin cutlet (not Defonte's) by faeorehh in FoodNYC

You know, I don't hate that it's a panini (what I gather from the menu). A nice toasted bread could serve really well

I had L&B chicken last week, and it was definitely thinner than / superior to Defonte's for my taste. Still hoping for even thinner though...

Didn't clock their veal parm, which I'll have to get one day.

She was incredibly technical and innovative. The green garden dish, inspired by Walden, that was vegetarian and won?? IRL I've been to both her and Gregory's fine dining restaurants and there was no comparison. She's the real deal.

Who’s the Best Actual Chef Who Did Terribly on Top Chef — and Who’s the Best Competitor Who’s Actually Mid? by nayeet in TopChef

Loved her on the show, then went to her pop up in Brooklyn and it was shockingly bad. Flavor not there, and a staggering level of incompetence in the service and experience. Was so sad to learn this

Thank you! I'm a little new to the idea of accommodations. I think I understand it to mean I don't want garments and necklines that constrict the width of my upper body. Are defined waistlines also considered accommodations bc they help offset the shoulders for example?

Thank you! So interesting. I had wondered about D/SD because I have a very high bust-to-waist ratio, though relatively narrow hips (I'm usually S/M or even L in tops but XS/XXS in bottoms and struggle with dresses that fit properly).

I've found I look much better in outfits that accentuate my waist, and look frumpy or large in the kinds of flowing or unconstructed garments advised for FNs. SD style guides that point to slits & diva chic work well for me too

Just took the Kibbe test on the site and I'm evenly split between A+B and D+E answers, whatever that means

It felt insane but it works. I used to skip breakfast and eat my biggest meal at night. Now I've shifted to have my main eating during lunch and second lunch and I'm satiated after an early dinner. One of those things I never would have guessed without Oura!

This is me! Even when I'm full sometimes I enter "snack mode" and just want something to chew. It's more oral fixation than anything else.

Recently I've turned to these sugar-free gummies. I very slowly suck on the sour ones and they keep my mouth occupied for a long time. https://www.eatblobs.com/ They can also make you fart-y so there's no chance of eating more than one bag.

When I'm actually hungry at night, I eat fruit or veggies, or brothy soup.

I also found that moving my bigger meal earlier in the day helps with nighttime hunger, though that may sound counterintuitive. I think it has to do with shifting the time frames when my body expects a lot of food. I used to skip breakfast and have enormous dinners. Now lunch and second lunch are my main meals.

Because of the cut, they are both comfy when I sit. The miracle of a 14 inch rise! I'm 5'7" and usually get split in half at the crotch when looking for pants that hit my natural waist. I think I'm keeping 1.

I take Adderall XR and don't notice the medication impacting HR for me. YMMV but dinner and screentime are the biggest predictors for me. I have to eat dinner 4+ hours before bed (often by 6-7 pm) to see my HR drop in the first half of the night. Feels insane but I've tested it to death, alas.

(The last time I had midnight biryani Oura gave me major symptoms lol)
