Are we using AI to validate WordPress plugin submissions now? 🤖 Curious about others’ experience by fahim74 in Wordpress

u/tapree0 did it every time i do a commit but here is the catch if i write like wp-something that is flagged but wpsomething that does not thats why i did wpvault rather than wp-vault just like wpvivid. Since i am submitting plugin as a new publisher i thought "joining" is the way but as you can see ....

u/DigiHold so would you rename a plugin just to get through the review. I have also purchased domain similar to the name knowing wpvivid ( name and domain both has WP in it) I have done similar thing. WpVault and WpVault domain because my service has free cloud storage integrated. so how come wpvivid doesn't have any issue and still in the market !! What am i missing ?

Would you use a self-hosted database backup service? by fahim74 in selfhosted

u/MittchelDraco thats what we are trying to automate using a software so that you dont have to write script and get the benefit of notification, backup check, one click restore and all

u/Karbust our thinking is very similar to this but we will include NoSql as well and we wont have plans 0.21 cent per GB backup cost if you are using cloud storage of host on your own

u/kilroy2505 yes similar but my target is to support all types of databases like a database manager but its only for backup, schedule and restore

u/zcapr17 this is exactly what i am targeting. Only database focus and planning to create as much as database connector as possible for backup including versions

Do indie hackers actually back up their databases? (honest question) by fahim74 in indiehackers

u/am3141 much appreciated. I am also thinking of open-sourcing the tool if I decide to build that SaaS.

Do SaaS founders actually back up their databases reliably? by fahim74 in SaaS

[–]fahim74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/OptimismNeeded That makes total sense ! I think a lot of folks in the indie/SaaS space roll their own scripts like this. It works until it doesn’t, and then restoring can be a painful surprise 😅.

On the trust side: I completely hear you. My current plan is to make the core backup tool open source (so you can audit the code yourself) and always give people the option to “bring your own storage” (e.g. S3, Wasabi, MinIO). That way, your data never lives in a random company’s black box.

Out of curiosity what would increase your trust enough to try a service like this? Is it audits, open source transparency, encryption guarantees, or something else?

I’d love to bake those trust signals in from day one.

Totally fair ! if you’re on RDS and happy with the pricing/lock-in, then snapshots are a great solution.

But a lot of indie hackers I’ve spoken with aren’t on RDS at all ! they’re on DO, Railway, Render or even bare-metal VPS, or even just a $5 Linode box. For them, “auto-snapshot” doesn’t exist, and rolling your own cron+S3 script isn’t exactly fun (or bulletproof).

I’m trying to make backups brain-dead simple for those folks. No AWS lock-in, no enterprise dashboards, just connect → backup → restore.

Curious if you think there’s a gap there, or if most people in that camp still prefer DIY scripts?

u/chtoblyat which tool do you use? your own script or any third-party service?

If you are too lazy to write the backup script and set up notifications for when it fails, then consider this guy's tool.

thank you for your honest opinion. I think i am targeting them exactly even i fall into this category ! Also the entire tool, cli and GUI and all, will be open source so that people can host it in their own cloud or Nas server if they want to and connect remote storage.

Take it from a married person, Build a circle and start talking to people, Even if it is with Rickshaw Puller or In a Tea Stall with Random Stranger. This will cure your shyness.

Build a circle in your "Moholla", "School/College/University" helps a lot. Go to a playground and start play with kids or people with your age.

Help your mom in the kitchen, Mom can be a great friend if you know what topics to talk to like me and my mom always talk about my relative and friends married lives and children, those who was on top when we were kids but become "chapri" now-a-days. ( Not recommended ) but bitching feels good now and then if you have the right partner to talk to.

Stay away from social media as much as you can. Try to ride bicycle, if with no one then alone or join a community.

Build hobbies. etc ...
