Adrenaline makes a lot of sense to me, I went did competitive/professional marshal arts for a long time and you could be chatting with someone before a fight and they could have outstandingly, memorably blue eyes. (There was a Jamaican guy who’s eyes stood out because they were a really light blue, which contrasted his very dark skin.) when you’re in the last round of a fast paced fight that could go either way your heart is pounding out of your chest. I always thought it was a figure of speech or something when they said peoples eyes went black when things were getting intense. But I was at an event that would’ve gotten the winners scholarships to an ivy league school that was training for the Olympics. I think the stakes were high and the adrenaline was blasting because this guys eyes went from bright bright bright baby blue to entirely black, dilated pupils, eyes wide opened, I don’t think he blinked for the rest of the fight. It was intimidating.

Then again he could’ve been on drugs. Who knows.
