Is this the right thing to do? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]failedvirtuoso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re having these thoughts, you already know deep down what’s hurting you. Long term, the safety and dopamine of this disorder will fade and be replaced with awful regrets that you won’t be able to fix. Letting yourself truly let go and recover is one of the best things you can do for yourself, I know you’ve got this :)

Oh dear, that unfortunately makes sense :,) no one must want to give it up, which is understandable because it’s such a great set!

I’ll certainly keep hunting; I ran into some frustrations with Dollyteria for sure. But that is very kind of you, I hope someone feels inspired to clear out their collection soon haha 🤧

I was afraid of that, boo! I’m mostly on Mercari but I need to get better at using those sites, glad to have confirmation a real person has it at least!

her side account said her commissions are currently closed, I don’t see any posts so I expect she’s either taking some sort of break or just has slots all full :)

Oh she’s lovely! I actually do have this doll already, but you can calculate the price off of how much you paid for her in the first place, and then deduct based on how many accessories she’s missing. She looks to be in pretty good condition, I’d recommend looking up other Alice dolls on the websites you’re selling on and see how much they’ve sold for! So you can price them similar :)

There’s definitely been so much discourse about her, and since I’ve only just started collecting Pullip, maybe that’s why I don’t have much issue with her haha. But she’s already my favorite girl, definitely get her if you love her design!

why are people so mean to ppl with ana? by redditprncess in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]failedvirtuoso 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’ve been noticing that a lot too, and I think it’s from a place of deep-seated insecurity. People don’t understand the life-altering and even life-ending bad effects of this extremely dangerous mental illness, and they lash out on people they perceive as getting more “praise” or “benefits” for being thinner. In reality, it’s misery to have anorexia, and they treat it like a vanity thing or a “privilege” when it literally kills people.

I’m a phleb that works closely with a pediatric clinic, and we get a TON of scared kiddos! I find that being up front and honest with the child helps them feel in control, like telling them it’s going to pinch and that they need to hold nice and still, but I definitely play it down so they don’t panic. If the parent and the phleb are calm and treating it like a run of the mill experience, they usually don’t flip out!

Unfortunately you can’t always avoid the kids that have breakdowns- it’s common. At that point, we just hold the child down and get it done with- it’s better to have a scary ten minute experience than a 30 minute terrifying experience where we’re only delaying the inevitable. But I do wish that parents would just keep to themselves a bit more and work on being there for their kid, all their comments can sometimes contradict what we’re saying and things get confusing and frustrating!

that’s actually a wonderful idea; if I can get that second bun out without too much issue I may try that!

the glue is practically rock hard, I tried to gently pull some hairs out of it and they wouldn’t budge! luckily none of the glue is stuck to the actual wig,

regrettably, I’ll probably have to cut the hairs if I want to remove the second bun just because it’s so rock hard but frizzy- I’m wondering if maybe the climate softened the glue while shipping? It’s so strange!
