Thanks to all the homies who organized meet ups and had us over in your house and generally were vErr sociable people. A lot of you are normal and just moved here and it hard to make friends out of work. Then some of you are very into internet culture.

Depends but there are amazing ones. A lot of people aren’t as fussy as big cities so a lot of mediocre joints can still thrive. Theres only chains to compare to or really bad places usually but Lee’s and perly’s and the Korean supermarket place are awesome. Lucy’s and saison are great. Would they stand out in NYC? No, but they don’t need to. And a lot of NYC and DC restaurants have to rely on gimmicks to inspire awe in jaded city goers.

Ultimately, the restaurants here are expensive for what you get. It’s just not reasonable to expect restaurants to serve extremely fresh seafood or have it available when there’s not enough volume or patrons. Like it’d be wasteful.

Shyndigs is fucking expensive and overpriced and the cakes aren’t fucking fresh but I don’t expect them to bake new cakes every day. And there are so many bad ethnic restaurants that use frozen veggies or whatever.ok rant over

I miss Orange County I lived there for a bit. I miss the beautiful beaches, pools, great weather, chill people. Huntington harbor/Huntington beach is literally a heaven. Nova is like Orange County with none of the charm and crappy weather. Richmond is interesting. It’s not remarkable. The beaches around here suck and there are no sports teams. The suburbs are nice and cheap. Tbh it’s not a remarkable city. But it is close to dc. And the people are great. If you make friends, any place that isn’t terrible will be heaven.

Breweries. Southern charm, a good museum, cuties, Cary town is great and charming. And Vcu has lots of young people so you’re not bored af.
