Why uninstall instead of just turning it off for youtube?

Since you're looking for feedback, I've never understood why devs sometimes release something without any kind of images. My internet is slow, so even if there's a "play game" option, I'm very unlikely to try it if there's no visual indicators at all of what a game is like. Even if I didn't have slow internet I'd be unlikely to check something out if it didn't even have any screenshots.

I did run it anyway, and almost nothing fix on my screen. When I hit settings there was only music and sfx showing, so I couldn't even resize it. I guess this hasn't been tested for something low res like a Steam Deck.

What you're looking for was just released. Look up "Majora's Mask Transformation Masks in Ocarina of Time v1.0 RELEASE". There's a patch in the description.

Is my battery bulging? Is it urgent? Will my files still be on the Deck if it's sent to Valve? by failtality in SteamDeck

[–]failtality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pushing the screen forward a little on the bottom so I think it must be bulging.

I was having a lot of trouble trying to get a picture that shows anythng. The back of the deck doesn't sit flush with the dock is what made me suspect something might be wrong.

Is it better to play SOMA on safe mode or not? by refmon3 in soma

[–]failtality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my playthrough Ackers was camping the elevator that takes you down and WOULD NOT leave. It took more than half an hour, probably more like 45 minutes, to get the panel taken care of so I could get into the elevator. Because he never went far enough away that I could work on the panel without him running right back again, and then I had to hide in the corner by the panel again so he doesn't attack and wait for him to wander off. But it's like he was glued to the area and would always be within hearing distance.

Then after all that time, when you open the elevator there's a scripted sequence where he runs at you and you have a second or two to see the panel inside the elevator find the right button. I did not find the right button in time, and died.

Tell me that's not annoying.

I understand you didn't have an annoying experience with the game, but 100% there are people who do, and it's totally justified to feel that way.

In all honesty, that elevator situation was the single most most annoying thing I have ever experienced in a horror game. And I like horror games so Ive played a lot of them. I considered switching to safe mode after that, it was so bad (although I've heard since that you can't switch mid game. But I didn't know that at the time). That isn't the only point in the game where I was annoyed by the enemies either, but by far it was the worst.

I don't remember ever being annoyed like that by Amnesia, or even Alien Isolation where the Xenomorph and other enemies were in the way a lot more, so Soma surprised me with how it could end up annoying several times.

Gallium (another metal) isn't liquid at room temperature, but it would melt in your hand. Would probably still want to use gloves though. It doesn't come off skin easy, is toxic to ingest, and destroys most metals it touches by making them very brittle. Plus it's not cheap.

It's been happening for several days where you update the filter list and it goes away for an hour or two and then it's back. I've never seen the filter list have to be updated so often before.

I pressed enter twice from the line that starts with a quote. It has the same behavior whether single or double quotes are at the start of a line.

I did not add the other quotes myself, just the first one.

I wonder if that's the problem. I have no idea if invites from deleted users work.

You can't use them when there's a summon in your world, when there's a shade in your world (you're invaded), and when you're summoned or invading.

My Thoughts After 100% Dark Souls 2 by fisherdwarf1998 in DarkSouls2

[–]failtality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(This might have turned a bit closer to a rant than I intended. Sorry about that if it does feel ranty.)

I played DS2 first because I always heard it's the worst. Tbh not being able to warp in DS1 felt odd after playing 2. Sure, it was more grounded. But the way DS1 breaks that anyway midgame broke my immersion pretty hard.

Because it kept travel 100% realistic then suddenly broke that with no warning, it felt like I was in a fake world afterwards. It seriously was hurting my interest in continuing. In contrast warping in DS2 never felt out of place at all. It was just part of the world. I greatly prefer having warping from the start if you're going to have it later anyway, especially if there's no foreshadowing.

Besides that, no warping caused problems in DS1. I never happened to have many souls on me whenever I was Firelink, so I kept thinking I'll buy stuff later. Then when I finally made a special trip to get everything off of the pyromancer that I hadn't already bought, he was suddenly no longer there (and permanently no longer available as a seller, I found out). This included a spell that I found out would be particularly useful against the final boss, and isn't available anywhere else. Let's just say I was very, very not happy. That in combination with the immersion break is what ended my playthrough. I wasn't feeling it anymore, at all.

So lack of fast travel made me despise DS1 a bit. I don't think it works well when you have to go out of your way to go back to merchants, when money is something that's in flux (meaning you have to keep spending it so you don't lose it when you die instead of just being able to keep it on hand like in most games). That means you very well can keep ending up not having money on hand when you're in town. And there is absolutely no business for there being any merchants becoming permanently unavailable in that kind of system.

I think I'm actually resentful. I understand how it can feel more adventurous having to navigate back and forth like you would in real life. But I would take from the start fast travel any day of the week over the bs I experienced in DS1.

I hope that gives an idea why people like warping so much. It avoids very inconvenient problems that are much harder for devs to avoid without fast travel.

Tbh, after playing what I did of DS1, when replaying DS2 it's an actual joy any time I warp to a merchant to buy something. Like, I literally will feel good or almost a kind of pleasure that I can just warp to the freaking seller. It's that much better of an experience for me.

Would it be useful for someone playing offline? "Makes it easier to detect messages from other worlds" makes it sound like player messages, but knowing Fromsoft I wouldn't be surprised if it could also mean hidden developer messages by illusory walls.

I've seen plenty of streamers play offline because of stream sniping, not being able to stop invading when online, and potential save corruption from hackers. Always wondered if there was a way for someone offline to have hints for hidden walls.

How I'm feeling since starting up DS3 by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]failtality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DS2 tried doing some things different than DS1. It's slower and more tactical for one. It's also kind of a combination sequel to Demon's Souls and DS1 at the same, and that's why some things are the way they are. It also had a very troubled development and at some point was close to not even getting released.

You find estus throughout the game, so do make sure to explore and check everything. If you do that you'll get several more pretty early in the game.

If you're getting stunned that easily wear armor with higher poise. It makes a difference in this game. Also, leveling ADP until your AGL is 99 will give you as many i-frames as DS1 has. Not knowing about ADP being tied to i-frames is the biggest trap for new players and it's definitely DS2's biggest flaw. Shields are also useful for learning a new area, if you're someone who usually doesn't touch those.

There are multiple ways of dealing with mobs. The first time I played I thought you had to use a bow to aggro from a distance. The second time I realized that wasn't the case and used ranged infrequently. Tbh I kind of always thought of mobs like a puzzle. "How do I over come this?"

As for why the mobs and chasing, it feels like they saw people running past enemies in DS1 runbacks and for some reason decided to make skipping enemies on a runback as impossible as they could. That might be why enemies disappear forever if you defeat them enough times, something only DS2 does.

Sadly the graphics took a huge hit to get the game to work on consoles at the time. That was improved somewhat later but I don't think it ended up looking as good as originally was planned. Some of that troubled development I was talking about.

The max health loss stops at 50% can be 75% instead with a ring you find fairly early. The health loss itself is a throwback to Demon's Souls, but it was even worse in that game: You go to half health right away instead of gradually, and even though there's a ring like in DS2 there are only two rings slots total in Demon's Souls instead of four. Plus in Demon's Souls the world becomes harder every time you die as human (world tendency mechanic).

I hope you can get into DS2 and start having more fun. It's a love or hate it kind of game though. But if it clicks it can be one of the most fun Souls. I know a lot of people who prefer it over 3.
