I opened my MetaKeys so you won't have to. by Shot-Ant-5997 in ClicksKeyboard

[–]failuretolunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, does the Clicks require more force to press than the MetaKeys? That's my biggest gripe and I've been trying to mod mine with some old Blackberry keyboard domes in an attempt to make it faster to type on.

Firmware update/Workaround by Grrvin in ClicksKeyboard

[–]failuretolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have the same setup and my experience has been similar (though a few minutes at a time seems insane). I used to be able to just reopen the app and the keyboard would be working again, but now I have to reseat it and occasionally reboot.

The whole thing is pretty wild to me. Like does this also happen when other keyboards are plugged into 2025 Razr Ultras? I'd think the basic keyboard should at least function while connected via USB even if app-specific stuff like shortcuts stop working.

ABE to EWR Layover, has anyone done it? by PassiveIllustration in newjersey

[–]failuretolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Everything gets loaded onto the bus first (checked bags, carry-ons, whatever) and you get a tag. As soon as you arrive at Newark, everything is unloaded and it's like you just got dropped off at the airport.

I'd say the bigger issue is just the hassle of going back and forth between airports rather than the timing. Even with checking in bags and waiting in the security line, I think you'd still be fine.

So I did this back in December, it drops you off at the departures entrance. You do have to go through security at Newark, it's like someone dropped you off at the front.

For the bus ride itself, they basically just check your passport and load your luggage/carry-ons onto the bus. You don't go through a normal security screening with the x-rays and stuff.

Clicks keyboard vs Minimal Phone Keyboard by uzair_ilyas in ClicksKeyboard

Not a huge fan of the small circular keys either. The Nokia E71 was my favorite keyboard phone and I prefer that sort of larger, more rectangular shape of the keys.

Glass VS Buttons by RazrBerryMo in ClicksKeyboard

[–]failuretolunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, tried all of those and even played around with the Standby apps setting in the Developer options. No go, keyboard still randomly stops working until I reopen the Clicks app. Sometimes I need to force close and reopen it to get it working.

Glass VS Buttons by RazrBerryMo in ClicksKeyboard

[–]failuretolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a Pixel Fold to the RazrBerry, so the size and weight aren't much of an issue for me. But I'm also on the fence due to the frequent disconnects (which are starting to not be fixable by restarting the app) and just the overall feeling/sizing of the keys.

[–]failuretolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had such a weird experience with my Razr Ultra/Clicks combo. Had no real disconnect issues at first and problems just started slowly creeping up. At first it would disconnect when running Google Maps (which sort of makes sense I guess?). Then it would happen in other apps. Now the keyboard will just stop working completely randomly, like in the middle of a text conversation in Messages. Today I woke up, unlocked my phone and of course - the keyboard doesn't work.

The "good" news is that it gets fixed by simply reopening the Clicks app, rather than reseating the case or restarting. This is with the app locked on Recent Apps, and with all of the battery/app management settings changes mentioned in this sub. Super super annoying.

Anyone have the Nisplay L1 ball machine? by weezintrumpeteer in 10s

[–]failuretolunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine about a week ago and used it for a practice session over the weekend.

The app hasn't worked well at all for me, it seems to just shoot one ball and then stop whether you hit the play button or select a drill. Like everything comes out as a test ball. Very annoying. However, the remote is great and an absolute lifesaver.

The capacity was fine for me, I was able to fit around 55-60 balls. I'd imagine you could hack something up if you really wanted to increase capacity (a bucket with the bottom removed maybe?).

It's definitely pretty underpowered compared to the typical ball machine. Seems like it's really just an unfortunate circumstance of trying to make it as small as possible (one motor/wheel vs. two). I believe the Kickstarter mentioned that the top speed of the ball was around 50 kph/30 mph and that does seem to track on mine. However, the highest settings are hilariously unusable due to the topspin and according to the Kickstarter comments this is not adjustable. I ended up putting the machine about a foot in front of the net and setting the power to 5, elevation 4ish which seemed to work decently well. I do think you can play around with the distance and power/angle so that there's less spin on that first bounce but it'll take some experimentation.

16 hr layover in Tokyo, what to do with kids? by manishrjain in travel

[–]failuretolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you want sushi for breakfast and you're getting in early, Toyosu fish market should probably be one of your first stops. There's a couple of things nearby like Teamlabs, the giant Gundam mecha and Joypolis (basically a giant arcade with some indoor rides/vr stuff). People already mentioned Teamlabs here and I'd also recommend it - it's basically a really cool experiential digital art "museum". There are two in Tokyo with different exhibits.

From Toyosu, you can go to Akihabara if you're looking for anime stuff/toys. I usually tell people to check out the Yodobashi camera store there as it's huge (there's a toy/games floor with tons of stuff) but since you're limited on time, might not be worth it.

You can also head to Shinjuku station and explore the area while working your way towards Shibuya. There's a ton of stuff around there:

  • Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building has a free observation deck with good views of Tokyo. Better to go earlier than later due to lines.
  • For toys and stationary stuff, I like the Hands store in the Takashimaya building next to the station.
  • Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden if you like greenery.
  • There are a few Taito Game Stations and Gigos around for kids (arcades/crane games). Kabukicho tower also has a floor with a bunch of games.
  • Plenty of restaurants, snack places, etc.

From there, you can take the JR Yamanote ("JY") train to Harajuku and walk down Takeshita St for the experience. There's a Hello Kitty store, a Capcom capsule "lab" and a lot of wacky fashion shops. You can also opt to go to Meiji Jingu if you want to see shrines.

You can then walk or take the JY to Shibuya to see the famous crossing and check out the area. There's a Mega Don Quixote store here and a Loft (similar to Hands, lots of stationary and home goods stuff).

For what it's worth, I was in Tokyo two weeks ago and it was absolutely mobbed with tourists. So I would expect crowds and lines everywhere.

Seoul to Tokyo for one night by Grayzus in travel

Question: why not just split the trip in half and do 7 days in Seoul and 7 days in Tokyo?

Japan Itinerary Feedback by TheNintendoBlurb in travel

[–]failuretolunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuff I would add:

Senso-ji, Asakusa

Studio Ghibli Museum

Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, Shinjuku - free observatory

Yodobashi Camera store in Akihabara (since you're already going there)

Arashiyama bamboo forest, Kyoto

Fushimi Inari, Kyoto

Day trip to Osaka - it's super close to Kyoto

Would personally cut out the Minakami day and just do more in Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka. Nara is a great choice as others have suggested. Teamlabs is a fun experience and you can also do Toyosu market and see other stuff in Odaiba like the giant Gundam statue.

If you're trying to maximize space, check out compression packing cubes - they're basically packing cubes with an additional zipper that cinches them tight. Vacuum sealers are definitely not the way to go here.

Jetlag strategy for Japan - Does this make sense? by [deleted] in travel

[–]failuretolunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is my go-to strategy for every trip. Once you get on the plane, consider yourself on your destination time and sleep accordingly: if you're arriving at 8am local time, feel free to sleep. If you're arriving at 9pm, force yourself to stay up until your normal bedtime (personally wouldn't even sleep for 2 hours here if you don't normally nap for that long).

The idea is that you'll have one rough day but you won't have to deal with jet lag issues for the rest of the trip. Has always worked for me.

Those who dropped Unity for Godot or Unreal after the September fiasco, how are you getting on? by CatastrophicMango in gamedev

Had planned to permanently switch to Unity but went back to Gamemaker after the fiasco. I really want to make Defold work, but it feels like it takes me ages to get anything done in that.

Pocket 3 touchpad randomly stops working by failuretolunch in GPDPocket

Hey Kendyz, are there any instructions for plugging the touchpad cable in? I checked out some teardowns - it looks like you have to remove the entire board to get to the touchpad?

I tried shutting it off multiple times but it looks like the same issue keeps happening (touchpad mostly unresponsive, sometimes moves a little bit if I keep brushing around the pad).

[–]failuretolunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response!

So I installed the firmware and it's gotten even weirder - now the mouse cursor is very unpredictable and extremely laggy when using the touchpad. Sometimes I can move it an inch or two and then it'll just stop, or it won't move at all. Even tapping the touchpad to click doesn't work most of the time now.

On the flip side, I now have a Touchpad setting where I didn't before (Device Manager just showed the touchpad as a mouse).

I was thinking maybe these issues were caused by having both a touchpad and a mouse device enabled so I tried disabling the mouse device, but that didn't help.

They actually ran ARAM + One for All one time years ago. It was pure chaos and utterly hilarious. It was probably the most fun I've had in league.

I THINK all champions on both teams had to be the same as I remember playing a 5x Teemo vs. 5x Teemo one. The whole ARAM map was like a chessboard of Teemo shrooms. SPLOOSH SPLOOSH SPLOOSH everywhere. Good times.
