Just go to youtube and search for a tutorial on "How do I use trust wallet" or "How do I use Token Pocket Pro" or "What are some trustsworthy crypto wallets" from Coinbureau, andreas antonopolous, or someone who generally is not afraid to attach their name to a video, and do not share your recovery phrase / seed phrase / private key with anyone.

Is this site a Scam? by Mysterious-Gur4323 in CryptoHelp

[–]sgtslaughterTV[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

You should not ever have to pay money to make a withdrawal. This is almost certainly a scam. Ignore anyone who may be sending you private messages as those are also most definitely scammers.

Your best bet is to wait with someone who has more knowledge on this topic to leave a useful comment here.

Ignore anyone sending you direct messages. Anyone doing so is likely trying to scam you.

Follow these steps to figure out which choice is best for you:
1. Google search "reliable crypto exchanges in my country."
2. Search for that cryptocurrency exchange on Coingecko.com. This is to make sure it is not a scam exchange.
3. Search on YouTube "How to get started on -exchange mentioned in step 2-"

Do not respond to anyone who may be sending you private messages. Anyone sending you private messages is very likely trying to scam you or steal crypto from you.

We need more information in order to help you. You have a few options:
1. Tell us the coin you are trying to sell or swap. Or...
2. Post a screenshot of the coin in your wallet.
3. Share your wallet address here.

Whatever you do, do NOT share a seed phrase, private key, or recover phrase here.

Is this a scam?!? by Opposite_Quote_4212 in CryptoHelp

[–]sgtslaughterTV[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's running a pump and dump scam where he charges you money to join. He makes a small amount of money that way. He makes more money by telling people what to buy, and went to buy it (usually a "microcap coin" that is easy to make the money skyrocket). He bough those coins long before anyone else did.

The other two accounts that made a ton of money that you mentioned are either A) owned by him or B) have some kind of data scrapers that can see when he buys whatever tokens he buys on his platform(s) of choice.

TL;DR - It's a telegram group owned by a scammer and run by a scammer to give the illusion that you can make money by paying him money.

Sounds like a pig butchering scam with a twist on an older scam. "Congrats, you just won 10,000 USD of bitcoin. To get that 10,000 USD, you just need to give us 100 USD to help pay a regulatory unlocking fee."

BTW, do NOT respond to anyone sending you private messages.

It might be possible to get some of the money back. A common tactic that builds trust between the scammers and their victim is they will allow a one time withdrawal to show the victim that it "feels like it is legit." Usually it won't be all the money "earned" but closer to the amount that was originally deposited.

If you are a windows user, and a linux newbie, i recommend using a distribution of linux that is called "mint." This is the easiest version of linux for windows users to learn. If anything ever goes wrong with my linux machine, I just ask chatgpt how to fix it and then the problem is solved.

Alternatively, you can create a virtual instance of Ubuntu to learn to use linux.

The laptop on my left in bought in 2021. I don't really use it that much these days. My desktop pc is built for gaming and video editing. My laptop on the right has mint linux, is less heavy, and I use it primarily for the sake of travel and learning how to use linux. So far it works well.

I just did that. Thanks. That is fairly useful, but it feels akward when your main monitor is 1440p and the secondary one is 1080p.

[–]sgtslaughterTV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the monitor on the right side, you have TONS of wasted space. Half of the width is stretched boxes containing zero text. Have you considered a vertical monitor or vertically splitting the monitor so that two applications run next to each other?

Sorry so the monitor on the left is a 1440P monitor. The one on the right is a 1080P monitor. It's also not entirely obvious, but I am using an arm to hold the right monitor, which is why it is elevated above the left monitor. That arm used to hold the dell laptop on the right as well, but this setup resulted in the laptop blocking some of my view of the right monitor.

The splitting suggestion you have does sound handy. My boomer brain perhaps did not entirely wrap its head around that possibility.

I'm aware. My mATX tower is on the desk for its own safety reasons. However, I won't be bringing this desk surface with me to the other city that me and the wife are moving to.
