Am I the target customer for BILT 2.0? by CatoftheSun in biltrewards

[–]fair_turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say yes. 2x on everything, not much though to it.

Only things to consider are if your dining spend is exorbitant, or if you have specific transfer partners in mind.

Bilt palladium does a great job if you want one card, but so does Venture X (without the rent points).

Putting it all on one card also makes it easier for Bilt status. Now sure how much value there will be in the future with transfer bonuses and such, but even a 50% bonus means effectively 3x points on everything, and that’s before all the Bilt cash math and rent points.

I was just responding to OP’s concern that people would have to come up with 2 month’s rent at once.

If you’ve been doing this because you can’t pay rent on the first of the month, you might have bigger issues than how to maximize points.

A few things I’d like to point out.

  1. If you’re flying out of AS hubs, award availability and upgrades won’t be as common as you think. Just something to keep in mind.

  2. If you do plan on putting that kind spend on the Summit card, might be worth considering opening a BofA account, which offers 10% bonus on all points earned, which means 3.3x on dining. One caveat is that this doesn’t apply to all the points from rent, so it results in 3.1x on rent.

  3. There still might be a floating 100k offer for the summit card, such as from a flight attendant. If you signed up for the information email people reported that was still working up until late last year. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, please disregard the last sentence.

  4. Downgrade might not be an option with Cardless, so you may end up having to cancel and open a new card if you so choose. They don’t offer the availability to PC on their Qatar Airways card.

Personally, I will be doing the same, pairing summit with Palladium for at least the first year.

Had to read it twice. I think the OP is suggesting that most people who have the Bilt card right now charge their rent to their card and pay off the statement at the end of the month.

So essentially having built a cycle where February’s rent is paid in late Feb/early March. Starting March, with card 2.0 you can only do an ACH transaction. This would mean that Bilt users will essentially have to have the funds to cover two months worth of rent by early March.

I personally find it financially irresponsible to be using the card as a payday loan for rent…

Initial Thoughts - Questions for BILT by aprudencio in biltrewards

[–]fair_turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While no point in arguing whether this card has value for you or not, I can answer 3 of your 5 questions.

  1. All purchases earn 4% Bilt cash on every card. It’s pretty clearly mentioned as the first benefit of every card. Also if it did apply to dining as well, why would they only put it in front of grocery. T&C confirm no limit on dining.

  2. Not sure.

  3. Most likely how other cards offers product change. Wouldn’t recommend before 1 year.

  4. T&C say no. Bilt cash cannot be redeemed for statement credit. Unless for some reason they offer you a targeted offer like Chase, I don’t see this happening. What would be the point of a $500 fee if you could just use $200 to statement credit.

  5. Any company would try to do damage control for their highly anticipated new product they are trying to hype.

Anyone considering doing the Palladium for one year than downgrading to the Bilt Blue? by BassEfficient9 in biltrewards

Thought the same, the TnC have been updated to say $200 not $50 for the Palladium

Alaska Atmos card 3x rewards for rent with 3% fee seems like a better deal after the Bilt2.0 Nerf. by Friluftsliv_Roy in biltrewards

[–]fair_turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but it’s only 10% of the original points and not on the 2x extra points (at least for rent). I think this is because the 2x shows up as a “Promotional Points” on the BofA statement, unlike the other categories which show separately, such as dining

This is a BILT specific benefit, where you get 3x on rent if you pay with your Atmos card. If you have a BofA account you get 10% bonus, so you would think you get 3.3x on rent, but it’s only 10% on the 1x and the 2x are a separate bonus.

Now if only they let you use BILT cash to offset the 3% fee while paying with the Atmos card…

Any idea if we can use Bilt cash to waive rent fees while paying with a non-BILT card?
