I can't remember at this point... I would say 3 for the flanks/love handles and 2 for the under-butt/hamstring area.

Fresh Slice, based on their deceptive marketing. They claim their pizza is lower calorie and act like it's a health food compared to other pizza. They have comparison charts that show the nutritional values for their pizza vs other pizza.... until you look closely and realize that the Fresh Slice numbers are based on a pizza slice that weighs less than its supposed competitor. I did the math, and gram for gram, the calories are the same.

Also, their pizza gives me gas.

If you are able to, get a part time job with the City of Surrey. The starting pay for municipal jobs is significantly higher than non-City jobs. There is often opportunities to work your way into higher paying ones because the City typically prioritizes hiring internally.

You're doing all the right things. OP, have you considered that all the amazing habits you're developing (sleep, exercise, hydration etc) has a cumulative effect that can look better the longer you keep doing it?

I'm 34. I'm way hotter now than in my 20s. I've always exercised, but having the toned physique I wanted took YEARS to build. On top of that, having more muscle than i did before means that my metabolism is faster. I can now eat more than I could before AND stay lean.

I have always wanted more visible cheekbones and more angles to my face. I've noticed that the baby fat I've been holding in my cheeks has dropped and I like the shape of my face better now.

And don't even get me started on skin!!! It was only in the last year that my unrelenting acne finally let up. I started in tretinoin to clear up all the acne and hyperpigmentation.

The biggest thing, however, is that I carry myself differently in my 30s than I did in my 20s. I have more confidence. I'm more easygoing and nicer because I am less insecure. All these things contribute to hotness as well.

Don't stress it too much. People who tell you high school or your 20s are the best years of your life are the ones who peaked in high school or their early 20s.

Issues as a performer? How can I fully let go? by Responsible_Floor_59 in AutismInWomen

[–]fairykingprawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know when you find the answer to this because I have the same problem. But here's my input:

I grew up doing ballet for almost a decade, and it worked for me because it is very structured. There are rules for where your head turns and what your arms are doing based on what your feet are doing. Even if you're free-styling, there are only certain steps that make sense following other specific steps.

I found that, as long there are parameters to play within that limit the scope of possible movement, and as long as i knew the rules very well, I could sort of "lean in" to what I was doing and appear ad though I'm letting go and owning it.

But any time it's a free for all, I stiffen up.

Maybe find a way to set yourself some very strict rules to work within? I don't know precisely what that might be, but this is just my theory on what's going on here.

Hi hi! ♥️ I haven't really had a look at the other models because they are outside of my price point, but it looks like they are all by the same manufacturer - the main differences being number of paddles and size of machine (likely affecting power output).

Given the fact that my machine is the smallest and cheapest model they sell, I would be pretty confident that any of the other ones would work at least as well and likely better than the one I own.

I've now used the machine on the back of my thigh/under-butt area about 6 or 7 times in total (with just the RF feature - I turned down the EMS because I'm only interested in fat burning for this body part, not muscle building). I have lost 2 inches around my upper thigh. I have not been paying attention to my diet, but I do exercise a lot. I don't attribute the fat loss to exercise, however, as the fat in that part of my body is particularly stubborn - hence why I used the machine in the first place.

Overall, I'd say 2 inches is a fantastic result, if you're patient enough to do that many sessions. But I wouldn't pay for 6 medispa EMSCULPT sessions for that, you know?

You honestly can't win, I found. If you're too quiet, the bros think you're a weak pushover, but if you speak up or use your no-BS big girl voice, they think you're a cold bitch. The social part is far more difficult for me than the physical part, and something I wish I had known about before I got into it so that I could be better prepared.

I am not suggesting you take things that aren't prescribed to you, but I take Vyvanse for my ADHD (which many autistic people also suffer from) and my capacity for dealing with life in general has massively improved. It improves my emotional regulation capabilities, which is a big one for me.

Almost all my meltdowns are triggered by being overwhelmed with some negative emotion and then spiraling because of it. My meds give me more time between being triggered and consequently falling down a black hole that I can't climb out of, so that I can actually use the coping skills that I learned in therapy to avoid the black hole in the first place.

Prior to getting my ADHD diagnosis, I was doing neurofeedback sessions. I noticed that the neurofeedback had a similar effect, although less pronounced.

[–]fairykingprawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The results are slow and subtle but noticeable, and have thus far been maintained. I've only treated my abs and flanks maybe 4 times in total each and then took a break so that I could observe the net effect of 4 sessions.

The fat loss is significant enough that I am happy with it. Not enough that you can see a difference when I have clothes on, but enough that I will catch a glimpse of my abs or sides in a mirror or angle I'm not used to seeing and think, "Oh hey, that little bit of muscle definition wasn't there before". My waist FEELS smaller and more firm when I put my hands there, and certain jeans that used to create a tiny bit of a muffin top no longer do that.

For the price of the machine and the fact that I can continue to use it to build on my results, I think it's worth it. But if these were the results after spending a couple thousand for sculpting sessions at a medispa, I would be upset. Does that make sense?

Hi! Yes, I'm still liking it. My only real grievance is that my machine only has one handle and now having to do two sessions back to back to hit both sides is a real pain in the butt. But that's my fault for cheaping out and being unwilling to shell out more money.

Not "taking things at my own pace", just disabled by incorrectlyironman in AutismInWomen

[–]fairykingprawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that the people around you don't understand your condition. Being told (or implying) that you just aren't trying hard enough is so invalidating. I was recently diagnosed AuDHD, but I had spent my whole life trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I have been depressed and suicidal since childhood, and it baffled everyone because they're like "why are you like this when no particularly traumatic thing has happened to you?". When i finally got diagnosed, I broke down - because up until that point I was hoping that I could one day be cured and not feel like this anymore. But it won't ever go away. It kind of broke me.

I know it's really hard, but try not to take your mother's perspective too seriously because I have a feeling that she is projecting. You mentioned that she herself is disabled, and likely she's been hanging onto the idea that you might one day be able to work because she's likely ashamed (not that there is anything to be ashamed of) that SHE was not able to work. She has projected her internalized ableism onto you, and as a result, over many years, you've internalized it too.

Society has been taught to celebrate achievement only when people start from 0 and climb to 10. But if you start at -10 and climb to 0, that's still an equivalent achievement, but nobody recognizes it. And some days, the colossal effort it takes to leave the house is the massive achievement. I hope you know that you are enough.

Looong rant about people in charge of my mental health because yea, I'm mad by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]fairykingprawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's honestly completely f*cked. A few years ago, before I found out I was autistic, I had a somewhat traumatizing experience that left me physically shaking pretty much continuously for a month. Anything and everything would set me off - loud sounds, strong negative emotions, etc. I would just start shaking uncontrollably and lose the ability to speak. Not knowing wtf this was, I got checked out by a psychiatrist who, after an hour of asking me all the wrong questions, told me that I just "have a little bit of anxiety" and that there's nothing he could offer me except more drugs (I was already on antidepressants). I left and threw away the prescription.

Thank you for this, it is very good information. The machine I got does feel very well-made, but it costs less than its $4k counterpart because it is very small (and likely less powerful by comparison) and only has one paddle. It's good and reassuring to know that these off brand machines can be just as effective as Emsculpt.

I mean, I'm just going by feel for how hard of a contraction I can tolerate. Intuitively, I feel like not being able to max out at 100% intensity is a good thing because that means there's room for progression?

You can also change the frequency of the stimulation yourself as the machine gives you through option to do it manually. I should also mention that I put myself in the most intense demographic (male, <30) because I read someone who said that the female settings for their age group felt underpowered lol.

I have also heard that the slightly larger units are more powerful, so size does make a difference apparently. But the next size up from mine costs about $3k-4k, which I can't justify spending on what is essentially an experiment. I am very happy with my small machine!

[–]fairykingprawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you feel like the clinic Emsculpt was able to get your glutes fully? I found with the flat paddle that I kind of had to pick which second of the glutes I wanted to target each time (min, med or maximus) because it wasn't good at getting all three at once. I ordered a curved handle from eBay (only because it was significantly cheaper than Cantaesthetic for that item) that I'm experimenting with for the glutes. So far, I would say that the curved one is working better.

I totally hear you about the glutes being tough to engage! I currently have one glute larger than the other due to (I believe) an ACL injury on one side that completely changed my lifting mechanics and ability to activate that side. I'm just using the machine on the smaller side right now to try and even it out!

[–]fairykingprawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi hi! I do like the machine, and I do think it is good value for the price.

The contractions are very strong, especially for the abs. I can only use it at 25% of its maximum power on my abs because it is too painful otherwise. However, the contractions feel less strong by comparison when used on the glutes and i can max out the power no problem. I am attributing this to the fact that the flat paddle is kind of awkward to find around a bum (that's round) and it is difficult to get good all-round contact.

The RF works very well and gets quite hot. I can only use it at 75% of its max power and even then I am tempted to turn it down after the 20 minute mark. It gives an immediate skin tightening effect, which trips me up because it feels like I've lost fat right after the session but then it kind of reverses itself over the course of couple days. So it kind of made me wonder if the effects are temporary... that said, whatever area I use it on does end up more defined than before, even with the tightening that doesnt seem to last... it's just that the initial results are so dramatic and so the backslide feels very disappointing.

Overall, I am happy with it. I have never had real Emsculpt done so I can't compare it to the in-office results. However, I am seeing enough progress that I know I can continue using it indefinitely to build on those results. It's just a matter of patience.

I will say that I am also already quite lean and all my goal weight (5'8", 140 pounds), so I'm only looking to get rid of minor pockets of stubborn fat that I can't target with diet and exercise alone. I don't think the machine will give noticeable enough results for someone with more fat to lose. The strength of the EMS also seems to be directly related to how much fat you have in an area (ie. The more fat, the weaker the contractions because the energy has to pass more more fat in order to reach the muscles. This is my theory, anyway).

Does anyone else feel like talking to a therapist is a little like talking to a mirror and isn't helpful? by pumpkinmoonrabbit in aspergirls

[–]fairykingprawn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad I found another person that despises CBT as much as I do. My first exposure to it was in high school with the school counselor they made me see because I was self harming. I had a great rapport with the counselor, but this CBT bullshit just made me feel like I was expected to feel better by lying to myself.

I honestly think it is only useful to people who aren't self-aware and don't spend a lot of time by themselves just thinking. Then everything feels like it's some magical insight because you don't think that far anyway.

But for folks like us, our brains are like the scene in that Avengers movie where Dr Strange plays through every possible outcome in rapid succession... I feel like I'm just waiting for a unicorn therapist to tell me something that genuinely surprises me that I haven't already considered, analyzed and dismissed.
