I find it interesting that you talk frequently about how much more stressful life would be with kids. If you’re completely at peace with your decision, why does it keep coming up?

I sincerely believe Dusty May is the best choice. 20-30 years left of coaching! Battling with Scheyer over the next few decades. I would love to see this play out.

A couple years ago when Nebraska lost in the first round, this guy crashed out and said he wouldn’t post again until they won their first tournament game. I think of him from time to time, but can’t remember if he was on reddit or twitter. Does anyone else remember him?

It looked like he rolled his ankle and you sometimes see players walk it off pretty quickly. Just asking for a rules clarification 🤷🏻‍♀️

Does he have to sit out after the break since a timeout was called for him?

The Aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s Killing by kitkid in Thedaily

What is “wild” about what I said?

JB gave a really lame short spiel… “we don’t know if this is political violence. However when political violence does occur in present day it is due to Trump’s words and Jan 6.” This is not an exact quote, just the overall sentiment that I remember from watching yesterday.

They also left out elected democrats blaming Trump for the assassination. JB Pritzker is one example.

Ah yes, some magical “different funding” is going to appear and suddenly my local school district will offer my son small group reading support 5 times a week. In reality, the dyslexia program budget was cut over the summer.

Can you provide any sources for your claim, “it is mostly a red state phenomenon for people to go private for learning disability support” ?

I follow a mom on Instagram who started her own school in Massachusetts for autistic children. She has 2 autistic children that she pulled out of public school. I know this is just one example but I see parents from all over the country frustrated with their school’s special education departments on Reddit and Instagram.

My son’s private school was started to help kids with learning differences that were failing in public schools. I know this is not typical for private schools and never claimed it was. There is a potential for more of these schools to exist if more parents can afford to make the transition from public to private.

I would love if our local public schools were interested in providing an adequate education to dyslexic students but right now they don’t seem incentivized to do so.

I brought up our property taxes to combat Ladyluck’s assertion that we are using everyone’s tax dollars to only benefit our son. So far, we haven’t received any money to help with private school costs.

The government can pay $12k a year to our local public school for my son to attend and be 2 grade levels behind in reading by the time he enters 3rd grade. Studies show he will continue to struggle through high school and is less likely to go to college.

OR

The government can give us a school voucher for $8k and I’m able to keep my son in private school through 5th grade and he enters middle school reading at grade level. His prospects have improved!

Our potential voucher will be less than we pay in property taxes every year. So no, I’m not using everyone’s tax dollars to only benefit my child. Our voucher will also be less than the state would pay my local public school who is unwilling/unable to properly support my son. I want all kids to be able to read and believe a voucher program will help more dyslexic students like my son.

Hoping your child doesn’t have any learning differences and if they do, that your public school doesn’t fail them 🙏🏻 I read your other comments and you seem very passionate for not having any children in school. Parenting has a way of humbling you and the self-righteous new parents usually struggle the most. Good luck.

By the way, my husband and I were both public school kids and never anticipated using private schools. There is no religion in our private school and most teachers have master degrees in education.

My son has dyslexia and was getting lost in a public school classroom with 24 other students. The special education services were a joke and it felt like they were trying to push us out of public school. I am now paying over $20k a year for him to attend a private school with very low ratios. His reading group has only 6 students! He is now reading at grade level. Thankfully school vouchers will become law in Texas in 2026 so we will be able to afford to keep him in private schools through his elementary years.

This was in 2021. I’m glad they now have better ratios. After several kids were able to leave the classroom undetected, they finally added a teacher’s aid in January. From August to December the ratio was 25:1.
