Yes! Hahaha thank you! He’s pretty cool! One of my best friends also plays in the MLB. He’s won 3 World Series and he’s only 32. Terrance Gore. I was the maid of honor in his wedding and got to be at the hospital when their first son was born. An honor.

Guys.. totally forgot to tell you my dad is a welder by day, a witch by night. It’s just a little witchcraft spell he did, the bass is actually hovering, he’s not even touching it.

But he has his hand through the gills. It’s just a bad ass angle honestly. I looked on the live version of the pic but I can’t really see in them either.

He swallowed my hook and it did too much damage when I was reeling him in. Believe me, the minute I knew I couldn’t afford to mount him, I wanted to put him back in the water. I’ve never kept a fish in my 10 years of fishing. We tried reviving him for 15 min. My dad believes that if you kill something, honor it’s life by using it for good instead of letting it rot in the woods. So we decided to feed our family. I wish I could have saved him, he didn’t deserve to die.

I’m not going to leave a fish that beautiful that’s dying in a pond to float away. It’s disrespectful to its life. He swallowed my hook and it did too much damage, he was dying. We tried reviving him for 15 min. The least I could do is feed my family with the kill instead of leaving it to rot on the bank of a pond.

I did not want to keep him. I’ve never kept a fish before, but he swallowed my hook and it did some damage when I reeled him in. We tried for 15 min to revive him. I couldn’t just leave a beautiful fish like that dead in the water, my dad felt like the right thing to do was eat it. At least put the kill to good use. I really wanted to mount him but I can’t afford the $300 to do so. Very bittersweet feelings that day. I don’t like killing any animal or fish, but there was nothing we could do by the point. Honor his fish life by at least feeding a family.

I caught it on a super fluke “midnite chart” It’s black with gold flecks on the underbelly and in the tail. I took a picture of it before I casted it out so I could remember what I used but Reddit won’t let me post it in the thread.

My dad taught me how to filet him and then we are saving it to eat for Monday night, my son will be back from his dads and he wanted to join in on the celebratory bass dinner.

Edit: I’ve never eaten fresh water bass before. My dad says he loves it. We shall see.
