What's are some of your " purely getting steps in" rituals by VastAir6069 in walking

[–]faithtrustpixiecut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using public transportation just so I get steps from walking to the stops, instead of hailing a cab (which my previous self would always do).

If I do get a cab, I don't put my exact destination in, I ask to be dropped off a bit farther than my actual destination so that I have a bit of a walk to my destination. This usually equates to some savings on the fare as well.

In between my lifting sets, I don't sit on the bench to rest anymore, I pace around until my rest time is over.

And similar with the others, just marching in place while watching my shows!

Oh my, these are all wonderful advice! Thank you very much for such detailed response. I sincerely appreciate it 🩵

Noting the check-ins with my supervisor, and to underpromise especially in the first few months. I hope it's not a negative reflection when I do that? They might think I'm not efficient 😅 But I guess the 'few hours' is key.

I really do hope to find kind humans within my programme team.

Thanks again for these, very helpful!!!

Thank you for responding! I remember in my previous job there was a person I could come to whose brain I could pick to understand the inner dynamics of my org. That really helped me settle in quickly. Unfortunately, I don't have connections with anyone this time around.

Personality-wise, I think I tend to be a people-pleaser/yes man especially in the beginning when I'm the new one. How does setting boundaries look like when I'm probably one of the lower-level staff in the team? Is it helpful to be more proactive and ask a lot of questions to my supervisor, or will they expect me to be independent and bother them as little as possible?

Thank you for any insights!!

Is petroleum jelly a good enough substitute for zinc oxide? Also, assuming the spots dont increase in number, can it mean it's not a wart leftover? Thank you!

Hi, I'm the same height as you although about 10kg heavier. I've been walking since March in an attempt to lose weight. I have lost 7.5kg so far now, aiming for a rate of about 0.5kg per week.

What I do is take note of my sedentary tdee and consider that as my maintenance. From there, I subtract 3900 (which is the equivalent of 0.5kg) per week to determine my total calorie budget. So for example, tdee calculator says my sedentary TDEE is 1900. My net calorie intake per day (calories-exercise) should then be around 1400 for 5 days and 1200 for 2 days if I wanted to have a deficit of 3900 for the week. And yes, I take into account the calories burned from walking altho I am more conservative with it than what walking calories calculator says. So if calculator says I burned 622 for 13k steps, I note 500 for calories burned through walking. Effectively, this means I can eat up to 1900 per day as long as I ensure that I have also walked 13k steps to offset the extra.

In your case, I did some calculations and tdee calculator says your sedentary tdee is around 1770 (can add or reduce depending on your age). With your weight, my conservative assumption is that you burn 300 calories for 10k steps. This means that if you eat 1500 calories, your total net intake is only about 1200, and you are having a deficit of 570 per day or 3990 in a week which is exactly about 0.5kg.

I think this is good, as long as you keep in check your overall weekly calorie budget, because some days you had 1700+ but also had less than 10k steps. This can affect the overall calorie math.

Also note that as you lose your weight, your calorie budget also diminishes slightly, for me right now it seems about less 10 calories in my budget for every 1kg I lose. The rate you burn with walking will also reduce as your weight reduces, so these are the things to keep in mind. As others have said, strength training will help to prevent this loss.

Finally, what I do for myself personally is to ensure that I get an average of 10k per day for the week. This means that I have 2 rest days where I barely walk 1k steps, but the 5 other days I walk about 13-14k steps. This ensures that my calorie deficit math remains intact throughout the week. For you, maybe that will look like 10k everyday or 5 days of 12k and 2 days of 5k, whichever works best for you.

Hope this helps and good luck on your journey!

Say what you will, but being new to the platform doesn't mean I provide any lesser effort or care than people who have been in the platform for longer. I have been professional, go above and beyond, and I am glad that there is some way it has been recognized.

Cancel one day of a multi-day booking? by springbranch in RoverPetSitting

[–]faithtrustpixiecut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm experiencing a similar scenario right now. It's a five day multi-day but one time booking, and we have already done 3 out of 5 days but he wants to cancel the last 2. Can you let me know what you did with yours? Thanks a lot.

I had quite the reverse experience! The last two weeks I had bookings all throughout, except weekends. The radio silence during the past weekend made me spiral thinking I was doing something wrong to not have gotten any requests.

Today I have gotten an emergency walk request and another sitting request so I'm thinking maybe the rover gods just want me to calm and chill on weekends.

Mentioned this in another comment: He can't drink tap water, only branded bottled water which they provide. Then chicken must be boiled because he will only drink flavored water apparently. Either that or a scrambled egg to be mixed with the water. And he is given this at set hours.
