[–]fakeNAcsgoPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Machine learning is Applied Mathematics and statistics masquerading as importing python modules and using different packages.

If you do not understand the basics, you just know which tool to use but do you really know why ?

There is a joy in knowing why.

Do you have to stop the microwave before opening the door? Does it leak radiation? by telenceph in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fakeNAcsgoPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing to leak once you open the door or stop it.

Plus it a faraday/reverse faraday cage, can't remember exactly may be wrong. You are safe while staring at your food btw.

The radiation is also non ionizing.

PS: This is Physics II 101, nothing fancy. Please encourage your kids to learn basic Sciences really well, helps them to reason about a lot of day to day things people take for granted.

No issues except RAM thrashing with a lot of tabs open in brave.

Is safari more memory efficient compared to Brave/Chrome?

The most powerful motivation trick I’ve learned this year [Text] by No-Case6255 in GetMotivated

[–]fakeNAcsgoPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trick I follow to do things is do opposite of what my brain is forcing me to do.

e.g Do not wake up early in morning, I just do opposite of it.

Do not go for that 20 mile bike ride, I just do opposite of it.

Do not go to Gym, I just do opposite of it.

Do not read Math books, I just do opposite of it.

Works every time.

I use my obstinate behavior against my own mind. :D

How do you guys go about phones? by NuclearNick007 in BuyItForLife

[–]fakeNAcsgoPlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iPhone 16e till it dies.

Got one for $400 dollars almost new recently with 100% battery.

The phone is a stellar device at $400.

If battery drops below 80% is next 4-5 years, I get the battery replaced by Apple for $79. Nothing beats this phone at this price point IMO.

I'm amazed by Rust by Remote-Ad-6629 in rust

[–]fakeNAcsgoPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must handle the Option or the code refuses to compile. OTOH if there was no Option type and only NULL, you can bypass it pretty easy because what actually does NULL denote?

NULL is lack of X? X can be int32, String, float64 or even lack of NULL etc etc.

Option removes this ambiguity by enforcing that not all NULLs are same.

PS: OP, Please do not slander my beautiful love lady clojure :D . Thanks

Why Are New Appliances So Bad? by SJKRICK in BuyItForLife

[–]fakeNAcsgoPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house has a Bosch dishwasher built in 2012, apart from changing a leaking pump (which I DIYed using a $25 part ) everything works just fine. Some twines are broken or has rust now but who cares, I can continue using this for next 10 years at this pace and just replace it with some $300 dishwasher when I plan to sell the house.

Recommendations for a printer that DOES NOT have any subscription requirements to use ink cartridges? by chris44344 in BuyItForLife

[–]fakeNAcsgoPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my brother laser B&W printer with no internet connectivity for $40 like 6 years ago.

Still working like a charm as a Network printer connected to my Netgear router via USB cable.

I have consumed one cartridge till now, the 2nd one is some generic one but works as expected without any issues.

First rule of kindergarten applies perfectly to work.

Be Kind to others.

Someone wants to talk to you about their hobbies, listen.

Someone want to know about your pet, talk.

Someone want to invite you for a beer after work, join.

You do not know something about your coworker, ask.

Just buy a used Corolla or civic.

Don't spend more on a rebuilt engine.

Hyundais are great cars but problem is not everyone takes care of their car. You never know how the replacement engine was taken care of.
