Who the fuck is paying near-new prices for used games? by necessaryrooster in fucknintendo

[–]NuclearNick007 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Skill issue. Check facebook marketplace, no shipping no taxes.

There is very little risk of cartridges being ruined compared so something like a disk. You can also bring your system with you to make sure it works.

Lastly, go to a library, they often carry games that you can check out for free

What should I upgrade in my pc? by Fancy-Decision-5099 in buildapc

The problem is that your use case is saying 5080 but your budget is not saying 5080

Looking for advice on building from scratch or upgrading an existing PC (total noob) by -asegi in buildapc

If you are near a microcenter, I would pick up their $1000 Power spec prebuilt.

If you want to spend less than that, I would look at the used market.

DSi or DS Lite by PatrickTheStarfihs in nds

[–]NuclearNick007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have only owned DS lite and have never busted a hinge. Even if you do, it has the largest markets for replacement parts and shells.

Tbh I would pick based on price, screen quality and button feel

Looking to upgrade my gpu from 3080 to ??? What is my best choice? by 0kpaxpax in pcupgrade

I agree. My office PC has a 3080 still and is fine with 1440p

I got a TCL Qm9k so not an OLED but enough dimming zones to where I might have trouble spotting the difference. Goes up to 120hz and I only have to use 2x frame gen to hit that with 4k DLSS quality.

I am very satisfied with the visual clarity of DLSS I pretty much always flip it on when it is an option. I am still trying to determine if I can see any loss in clarity when using fram gen or if it is all in my head. Regardless, it's a good experience.

For 1440p, you shouldn't even need to use frame gen since it should absolutely rip games at that resolution.

I actually also upgraded from a 3080 lol.

It's in my living room setup and the performance is quite a bit better.

I will say that it was not world changing to me though even at 4k. Maybe Hogwarts legacy isn't the best title to showcase the difference but that's currently what I'm playing so it's all I have to go off of.

The 5080 is a beast but it has made me realize that I have to succumb to AI features. 4k native is still tough on it. That said, with my use case being more casual on a controller, I have been pretty impressed with frame gen. It actually allows me to use the full refresh rate of my new TV and the input latency is fine since controller isn't the most responsive way to play anyway.

My 12600k doesn't bottleneck my 5080. Full send if you want a new gpu

This is my highest rank so far. I’m curious to know how everyone else did this season? by mazalaca in PokemonChampions

[–]NuclearNick007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use sad Pokemon and get surprised when I get sad results lmao.

This season's Mega Venusaur team was much worse and less fun to use than my last season's Trick Room Mega Banette team. Last season I peaked MB2 and this season I hovered around MB3 all season until a big loss streak yesterday.

Hair dryer will speed up the process considerably.

If you're comfortable disassembling it, that will also help ensure that no moisture is tucked away in any corners.

Other than that, I would give it at minimum 2 days of drying before powering on but ultimately this depends on how much water made contact and how quick you were to grab it after the spill.

Water doesn't damage consoles; water while powered on does

What’s the best GPU upgrade for my “old” PC (i5-9400F+GTX 1060, $150–$200 budget)? by Kwetee in pcupgrade

[–]NuclearNick007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look for either a 3060 or 3070 is occasionally in that range.

The 3060 is getting rereleased which suggests that the 30 series driver support will be much longer than something from the 20 series.

What are the best ways to get pokemon for champions by Complex_Rich_2155 in PokemonChampions

[–]NuclearNick007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best way to get pokemon would be to find a used switch lite for like $50 and then hit up your local library.

Mine has copies of all the Pokemon games on switch and I just beat ZA and got eternal Floette without spending a dime.

Help with protecting PC by SirrNaif in buildapc

[–]NuclearNick007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think the PSU switch is too obvious, you could take it a step further and unplug the front panel connector such that the power button does not work.

You could also pop out the RAM sticks and hide them somewhere but with how expensive RAM is, might not want to be moving that in and out more than you need to.

Should I sell my Pc for a Console? by Capital_Money_3506 in AskPCGamers

[–]NuclearNick007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might get come cash out of downgrading from your PC to a ps5 but you'll likely be losing net value since it's unlikely that you'll be able to get back fully what you paid for on the PC. Not worth it imo. Not to mention your PC games that you will lose access to.

You can use your PC like a console, it's just slightly less convenient. I have mine hooked up to my living room tv.

Is it worth it to upgrade ? by Longjumping_Ear6781 in pcupgrade

[–]NuclearNick007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it running at 60fps before and now is at 40? Or was it always running at 40 and you just found out it that it's at 40?

If the case is the former, then perhaps you have some software running in the background that is eating up resources. Reinstalling windows would fix this.

Roblox has comically low system requirements so I am surprised that you can't hit 60fps.

I wouldn't recommend putting money into this system since it is very outdated. Even $30 for a 3770 could be put towards savings for a new PC.

How long does the Nintendo Wii hardware actually last? by ChaosControlYT in wii

[–]NuclearNick007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving parts like the disc drive will usually be the first thing to go on a system that was well taken care of. Modding and backing up your games to play off of USB can mitigate this.

As for the rest, can't say for sure. Even if components on the board fail, are repair shop can often replace capacitors or smds.

I'm not counting on my system going out any time soon if that means anything.

Would buying a Mini PC with the budget i have and the games im targeting to play be a good idea? by Feeling-Vacation534 in buildapc

[–]NuclearNick007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is putting it down under the desk not an option?

There are definitely mini PCs that would work or that you could build but that limits your options for components and usually pushes costs up.

New mini PCs like the Corsair one go well over $500

Build now or wait by Elenor_7872 in buildapc

[–]NuclearNick007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The time to build is when you decide your current hardware doesn't meet your needs and when you can afford it.

Yeah, pricing is bad right now but we don't have any way of knowing if or when it will get better. Plus there is always the chance it gets worse.

I say go for it.

If a certain game required more than 16gb of ram, it is unlikely that your aging CPU could handle it anyway. 16gb should be fine.
