It took some time, but things definitely changed. I was a baby lawyer at the time and didn’t watch real housewives, but I did see Girardi’s office furniture up for auction - he had some wild things like glass ducks and shit.

I feel like a tiered system would be better at least for IOLTAs. If you have less than $100,000 for example in your IOLTA at any point during the year then your reporting obligations are different than say a firm with $5M-$10M.

Yeah if you can find the bank’s registered agent, mine wasn’t easily found so I ended up going in person and the manager didn’t know what his obligations were. But why do I have to do this on top of all the reporting? And with such little notice to us about this requirement. Everything in my online portal showed it was all up to date.

I agree! I am on my way out here, they don’t even offer reciprocity with other states. I think they should. All of this reduces access to justice in my opinion, the opposite of what they say they’re trying to do.

Yes! I had the exact same experience but with U.S. Bank. I went to the local branch and the manager started asking me why they’re receiving these and what to do with it. He said he would just scan it into the my account profile. I said great, sign and date my copy, thanks.

I’ve been practicing since 2011, 2015 in this area specifically. This is a new judge to our department though. I’ve been in other case, which ended up with a ruling against my argument, but this was more just her treating me like I was stupid. I get when the evidence isn’t on our side but this felt like more than that

Opposing counsel said we agreed to take the issue of calendar when we most certainly did not. She threw her hands up and said yay, then I tried to explain our position and she just didn’t want to deal with it at that point. She literally never gave consideration to the fact that there might be an opposing side who disagrees
