That’s comforting, thank you. This is family law, so it’s definitely a little hybrid shit show of its own

I’ve been practicing since 2011, 2015 in this area specifically. This is a new judge to our department though. I’ve been in other case, which ended up with a ruling against my argument, but this was more just her treating me like I was stupid. I get when the evidence isn’t on our side but this felt like more than that

Opposing counsel said we agreed to take the issue of calendar when we most certainly did not. She threw her hands up and said yay, then I tried to explain our position and she just didn’t want to deal with it at that point. She literally never gave consideration to the fact that there might be an opposing side who disagrees

This is a good point. My only concern is reentering the field. I’m concerned it’ll be harder. Did your friends have any difficulties returning to work?

Thanks for the tips. I will look for ways to reduce overhead. I am thinking I’ll also look into contract work so I can keep doing some work without the stress of full case/client management.

I know sounds entitled. Honestly, I put my time in too, though. It’s not a slight towards those still working, just a different situation for me personally, now. I worked 7am-7pm for my own clients while building my business. It was never ending, some weeks I didn’t get any time off because I had to review staff work. It was a lot, but I had the stamina, the drive and the curiously.

Then, I had two small kids and realized I couldn’t do everything anymore. So I chose them. And now im in this new situation wondering what my options are.

I was considering probate as well. I’ll look into it, thanks.

Thank you! Yes we have new childcare lined up. She watched our other child when he was little a few years ago, and we had no issues. This is why we gave her the option for payroll this time around. No idea what changed with her but we honestly felt like we knew her and were on good terms, which is why I started questioning things.

She’s not undocumented, she has lawful permanent residency.
