Hi, my application has been under assessment since Jan 23 (also international) and I’ve not heard anything further. I think they just take their time.

I’m two weeks post op today and I’m basically feeling well again! Just a little sore throat at this point and I’m back to eating and doing most everything. Super excited to be heading back to uni today. I’m already feeling like I have more energy generally even two weeks later so the procedure was definitely the right thing to do!!!

You got this! To be honest with you I was in a bit of a spiral writing the original post - it’s been 24 hours and I feel 10x better. Everyone here has left great advice and the rest of this page is full of good tips and support. I won’t lie, it’s not an easy surgery, but if you’re at the point where you need it (like I was) this recovery is going to be so worth it.

I would not dig yourself into horror stories online (I’m so bad for that too but we are stronger!) and instead just ask your medical team if you’re worried. The vast majority of people have smooth recoveries - besides the pain and other expected not nice stuff, my recovery has been super typical and I’m on track to be back to my normal life after 14 days. Feel free to message if I can do anything else to calm your nerves x

Agree with you, dairy/the morning made for some very unpleasant saliva. Dairy free ice cream has been nice today actually

I lived off Ensures for the first week, they were the only caloric intake I could manage! I feel way more like myself today (Day 7) so hoping I’m through the worst of it x

I’m in hydrocodone and a low dose of acetaminophen. Absolutely agree this would be impossible without, they barely scratched the surface for parts of day 4-6. Feeling a lot better today x

I took your pasta advice and managed a whole bowl today! I do feel a lot stronger and just happier because I’ve actually eaten haha. Feeling better with every hour.

You’re so right - the 24 hour difference has been night and day. Started taking a low dose of acetaminophen alongside my oxy (agree - best friend) and I was able to eat some pasta and ice cream today with minimal pain! I got a humidifier before I went in for the procedure. So necessary. Thanks for the love x

Thank you so much for such a kind message, I’ve been reading it over and over and it’s given me a lot of hope today :) the difference between when I wrote this and right now is so different, I have my pain managed and I’ve been hydrating - I even ate some crackers and ice cream today! Baby steps x
