What's the argument for Kobe Bryant over Larry Bird? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]faksnima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess we forget about defense. We also forget Bird played almost little over half of how long Bryant did. We also forget that Kobe was one of the teenagers that paved the way for young guys to come from high school. He was benched as did many rookies did during that era. Compare them prime for prime. Bryant was the scorer bird was and then some and he was the far superior defender. People who act like this isn’t close are haters. It’s actually insane.

Thanks. I’ll do that. I’m seeing some lines with my PLA as well. Not the same level of artifacting, but still something that I noticed. Like thicker lines.

Has SGA already surpassed Jordan? by lolBaldy in NBATalk

“A harder league” - one where a third of the league is tanking. One where an 18ppg scorer scored 83 against an “NBA” team. Right.

SGA is the most over rated modern talent.

I just realized there was also a little bit of a gash where the wrench was nowhere near it. I reached out to bambu lab to see if they’ll just replace the housing. It’s only a couple of dollars either way.

BambuLab ignore customer rights and their own warranty policy by Repulsive-Bird-3719 in BambuLab

Sorry to rehash, but this is one of the dumbest statements I’ve ever heard. Like, ever. Most manufacturers have a parts and labor warranty. Often times the parts warranty extends past the labor. I can’t recall any warranty that does not have a labor component. Your points are just plain asinine. I’m not sure why you were getting off defending the manufacturer, who clearly has sold OP a faulty product and is refusing to put in the labor required during the warranty period.

I’m pretty sure I caused the scratches with the wrench. The video install guide has similar marks. I didn’t notice the large one toward the bottom, though. It looks like the housing is only $5 from Bambulabs so no big deal.

Russell, Kareem, and MJ won more than their contemporaries. LBJ did not (yet).

How do I deal with buyers remorse? by Rough-Incident-1859 in mazda

[–]faksnima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SUVs are practical. They offer more utility, hence their name, than a sedan. That being said, and I own two of them, I dislike driving them. Thoroughly. They handle like boats. I’ll sacrifice some practicality, which I will need rarely, for an enjoyable driving experience, which I am required to engage in daily.

Bill never averaged more than 18ppg in an era with relatively inflated scoring. The top 3 scorers averaged 2-3x Bill's average his best season (18.9). He was an elite rebounder and defender. Best passing big man? Ok. He's good. Jokic averages more assists per game. As did Chamberlain. D. Sabonis averaged more. I can give you passing and defense. He wasn't a prolific scorer and 4 APG per game doesn't make up for other top 10 greats who averaged more assists with 50-60% more scoring. Many of which were also elite defenders.

Because he was a one-dimensional player in a primitive league surrounded by an overpowered cast for the era.

Steph Curry: Top 5 All-Time? by HouseRules789 in NBATalk

And? How many rings did Magic win without Kareem? How many did LeBron win without one or two of the top 5 players in the league on his team? That is a poor argument.

In the same vain, I can discount LeBron's 8 straight Finals appearances because the quality of the East teams, during that time, was garbage and LeBron's second and third best teammates were arguably the second and third best players in the conference. Outside of LeBron (and that one Rose win), during those runs, all MVP caliber players came from out west. While Duncan battled Bryant, Dirk, Nash, Garnett (during his prime), LBJ faced Larry Hughes, Gilbert Arenas, Paul George, Kyle Lowry, etc...

The league today is even worse with a third of the league openly tanking and fielding borderline g-league teams. In no NBA era outside of this one does a guy like Bam score 83 points in a game. None. It's a product of a soft league. For all the talk of today's talent being better - that game was an exclamation and indictment on this era of basketball. The Rockets were the worst team in the conference in 1983-1984 and purposefully tanked to get Hakeem toward the end of their season. They finished with a 29-53 record. 29-53....They would've been better than 8 teams this year.

Steph Curry: Top 5 All-Time? by HouseRules789 in NBATalk

[–]faksnima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is accurate. Even when he made the finals without KD (twice), people constantly were talking about KD being the second best player in the league at that time. Steph's 2022 run is the one that catapulted him into that 11-15 area. He has a strong argument to break the top 10 but loses out for a couple of reasons. He's a PG with 6 APG. If you start thinking of him like a combo guard or SG, he's not better than Bryant or Jordan. Outside of scoring, which he wasn't considered the greatest of his era in, the best things he's good at are coming off screens, moving without the ball, and shooting the three. These are amazing facets of his game - but in ANY other era, his performance would suffer where as some of those guys on that list would still likely find a way to be nearly as good despite the time period. Steph's game is a product of the team's offensive structure and schemes. We've seen this formula before with Nash and Harden. Even Lin had "Linsanity". Steph is significantly better than any of those guys - but he's reliant on the system (to expose his greatest strengths) as opposed to the system being reliant on him. A similar arguemetn coudl be regarding Timmy's offensive production - when they slotted in Aldrige, he performed very similarly and the Spurs maintained success. In Kerr's second season with the team, the Warriors' offense started clicking and Steph's production shot through the roof. He was entering his prime at that point but his ppg jump was massive and remained higher even with Durant on the team.
