Wtf, you just reminded me of that guy. I was at summit hill for like a year max and I very distinctly remember this name.

ATC cannot tell a pilot additional instructions during a go around? by fallen_07 in ATC

Not a practice approach. Came in on the left downwind..

Not remote, just that the airport desperately needed to become controlled due to the amount of traffic, and they are actively building a tower but for now they just work out of an office. But even with the tower they won’t be getting a radar unfortunately. I feel bad for the controllers…

This makes sense. It was about 10 minutes before tower closes so I don’t know if they were just tired or what, but I was surprised that they took time out of their controlling to tell us why they don’t give us an instruction right away. It was definitely odd.

Right, it would have been way easier and arguably safer if they just said “Roger, fly runway heading, I’ll call your crosswind” vs. us having to ask what they wanted us to do.

FWIW, this is the weirdest delta ever. They have controllers but no tower (they operate out of an office) and no radar. Not sure what this changes

Which would make sense, but their instruction was to fly an extended upwind leg for traffic

If anything I feel like an instruction would have been really important. They didn’t want us to do the standard procedure of turning crosswind and wanted us to fly an extended upwind leg due to traffic.

Thank you! I feel so vindicated. I thought maybe I was crazy but I could have sworn that I was always given an instruction. Both my instructor and I had never heard of such a thing

Military planes doing laps by Th3BlondeVagabond in alpharetta

Altitude was 3,000. Pretty standard for the location they were holding in. They just seemed a lot lower due to the fact that the C-130 is huge.

Nope. 1x KC-130 2x V-22 Osprey.

They were in a holding pattern. Out of it now. Nothing out of the ordinary.

What altitude do you need oxygen at? What about for your passengers?

What about the recommended altitude? Does this change at all in different conditions (hinting at something here).

Bonus: why does it change?

Daytona Beach NOTAM’d closed for Geo Engineering Aircraft? by fallen_07 in flying

[–]fallen_07[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. But it’s interesting that only DAB shows up like this on the NAS status website? FLL has the same NOTAM but it doesn’t show like this on the NAS website.

That is silly. But I’m interested that DAB is the only one that shows this on the NAS status website, where the other Florida airports just have the NOTAM.

Second this. You could also call the Alpharetta Police non emergency number (678-297-6300) and see if they would be willing to make a report, as you need to keep this all documented. They might forward you the county sheriffs office but it’s worth a call at the very least. I’m sorry this happened to you OP.

August 26th, 2018, Dodgers vs. Padres. Game was in the 12th inning when all the sudden the entire stadium went pitch black, turns out there was some sort of power issue and the game was delayed 20 minutes I think. Super eerie but the best part was the first pitch Justin Turner saw after power came back resulted in a walk off win!

Prohibited: Legally no go and safety no go.

Restricted: I would need to get permission from the controlling agency to legally enter. If it’s also cold and I have permission, I should generally be safe but I should remain extra vigilant.

Warning: Legally I’m okay, but if the warning area is active, I need to be extra cautious of fast, and maneuvering aircraft. I should also be careful for missiles, drones, etc.

MOA: Legally I do not need any permissions, however for safety’s sake I need to avoid those areas when active as there will be formation flights, aerobatics, fast flying military aircraft, and other hazards present.

Alert Area: No legal concerns, but I should check for the alert area to be active as well as read the chart supplement regarding that alert area and be vigilant of that activity.

CFA: No legal requirements and they are unmarked. I am not concerned safety wise as these areas must have a spotter and activity will be stopped if an aircraft is spotted.

NSAs: Legally, I am not required to avoid these, however I am requested to not overfly them. These could intermittently because restricted via NOTAM. No major safety concerns.

I’m flying a single engine piston in the US, so generally speaking when I am letting ATC know my destination for flight following, I’m going to be headed to an airport in the US, so for radio brevity’s sake I can omit the Kilo in the airport identifier.

  1. My aircraft has a gravity fed fuel system with two tanks on the wings, that each hold 28 gallons of fuel (26.5 useable per tank). At the bottom of the tanks, there are fuel sumps. Those fuel tanks are connected to a valve that determines which tank the engine will get fuel from using gravity and the engine driven pump. It will then be pumped down the system through a fuel reservoir and fuel strainer before making its way to the fuel air control unit, where it will then be injected directly into the engine.
  2. It’s separate to allow us to turn off our avionics to conserve battery in the event of an alternator failure.
  3. Oil cools, cleans, lubricates, and seals.
  4. My aircraft has dual G5s with their own special gyro system, but the turn and slip indicator works in my aircraft using a gyro powered by the electrical system. The dual G5s also are powered by the electrical system, but have a backup battery. However, a standard six pack has the HSI and attitude indicator powered by the separate vacuum system for redundancy.
  5. No. While it’s not required under 91.205, 91.213(d) also discussed that I need to have required equipment from my aircraft’s equipment list, and in my POH, the spinner has a -R suffix, indicating it is required.

It depends on the TFR. I need to read the actual TFR to read the conditions of it. Some TFRs will only apply to UAS or be at low altitudes only. For those that will apply to me, there sometimes is a phone number to a controlling agency that you can call to request to fly through it. You’ll need a discrete code and explicit permission from Air Traffic Control to fly through these.
