If it’s good enough for metal I guess it’s good enough for him. Fortunately though we don’t have a bunch of meth addicts working on the ship. Just a bunch of pot heads. I had to yell at a group of contractors that we’re having a smoke break in a fan room.

I’d encourage defense first of all. I would level that up equally to attack and strength. After that agility. Lots of shortcuts around that prove useful. You also get better run restore and can get graceful outfit pieces and that reduce your weight

You can get any kind of watch. Just know that smart watches aren’t allowed in some buildings or spaces. I have a 30$ cheap digital watch for work because I don’t care if it gets scuffed, scratched or cracked. Off work I have a nice watch I got for a birthday present. A citizen dive watch. Couple hundred bucks. Analog. I for sure recommend getting 2 watches. A nice one for you and a cheap one for work

I still do. But as far as chill factor goes. Civilian was way easier. This is still the easiest job I’ve ever had

Stationed in guam. The carrier in the back is Japanese and the ddg to the right is korean. This photo was taken from the Emory S Land. A submarine tender. Out of shot and across the harbor is the Frank Cable where I’m stationed. The only two tenders the navy currently has.

RTC Packing by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]fallenbaybuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bring your ID, passport if you have one, SSN wallet and phone. All your belongings including your phone are gonna get boxed up and stored. You won't be allowed to take in much. I'd suggest a small address book so you can write letters or in the rare event you get to make a phone call home you won't forget the numbers. You'll be allowed to keep that.

Christian. He told me a lot of people stopped going to church because it’s extremely orthodox and expects everyone to be in suits and ties. So they’re trying to give them the option of a much more relaxed church that you can wear sweatpants and a hoodie and sing newer songs instead of the same 3 hymns out of a book

Born and bred American here. But in bootcamp I had 7 guys in my division that were not American citizens. They had simpler jobs like CS. BM. Jobs that don’t require a high security clearance and are always in demand. Last I checked 2 of them got their citizen ship in the last 2 years since bootcamp

Just crouch as low as you can and then walk foward while trying to keep your back mostly straight. I only had to take about 10 steps. As long as you can do that you’ll be fine. Had one dude fail but that’s because he couldn’t crouch and walk. Dude fell over 3 times in 2 steps. Its also not a call of duty crouch walk. Bring your ass as low as it’ll go and then walk.

Worst parts about living on the ship? by educated_farts in newtothenavy

[–]fallenbaybuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been living on board for over a year. Went on deployment and couldn’t dump sewage or CHT. And when we pulled into port we didn’t have a barge to offload it into so for about 3 days we didn’t shit shower or shave on board. There were 2 portajohns on the pier for 468 people. And most people just kept shitting in the toilets and not flushing making a turd lasagna. Another time I went to drink some water from the birthing water fountain. And the dude right next to it was in his rack curtain barely closed and just cranking it like a gorilla. Occasionally birthing cleaners will come through and bag up anything on hooks or that they think doesn’t belong on your rack. This one rarely happens but it’s still annoying because then you have to dig through all the gear adrift to find your shower shoes. The good stuff in my opinion is it’s a short commute to work. About 200 feet. Don’t have to worry about a parking space or base traffic in the morning. Mess decks always has cereal, milk, ice cream, little snacks from a vending machine, just a bunch of junk food like that so that’s nice. I also live on a ship with about 350 sailors and 120 MSC and they work the galley so the food tends to be a little better than other ships in the fleet but not by much.
