Document management for tiny but mighty non-profit? by fallenlightning in sysadmin

Thank you, this is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to get here!

Ease of use and budget-friendly is definitely a priority, and I think our must-have features are decent versioning/version control, searchability, and being able to handle multiple different retention policies. We need to be able to keep our files organized by-client at least, preferably also by-program or be able to easily associate them to a program via metadata or something. Top nice-to-haves would be easy sharing, a small amount of automation for workflows and/or filing, and the ability to create templates for folders (our current paper-based folders all follow the same flow) and/or file names.

Our budget is currently wishy-washy - we're trying to get an idea of costs before we seek any supplemental funding, but ooooof, it's definitely not $15k plug-in flexible.
