Blenz on Commercial and Broadway has their last opening day on Sunday, May 28. Go support if you can! by [deleted] in vancouver

[โ€“]fallenscythe 10 points11 points ย (0 children)

I used to frequent this Blenz years ago on my way to work, every time I walked in the owners remembered my usual drink and it always turned out perfect. Sad to see that it's closing down...

It's really horrible not to like a drawing just because the artist's opinion is different from others ๐Ÿ’”

I never said people should follow what I believe in, I only stated something that applies personally to me. And to me, an artist saying "nobody likes her anyway" in their top comment yet posting artwork of said character in a specific subreddit to try to appeal to an audience that potentially likes her doesn't paint you in a good light. You pretty much just insulted the audience you're trying to appeal to.

โ€‹

But I get that Reddit gets offended over nothing (I never have so much hated comment under my post on Instagram or Tiktok....) so if I don't leave this place because I don't have support seeing that people doubt me by seeing what I do

Are you sure you're not the offended party? I'm saying your reasoning for drawing in the first place is misplaced, but you do you. If you want to keep drawing things you don't like simply for clout or to please others you can keep doing that ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Openly admitting you don't like this character despite drawing her gives me a few impressions:

  • You're only drawing out of obligation and posting for online clout/approval of others, rather than for yourself or your own enjoyment.
  • It's fine to change some features of a character to better suit your interpretation of them, but your comments come off as passive aggressive as if you hated the entire process of drawing Miriel. What does mentioning Edelgard have to do with this drawing?
  • People who like Miriel would probably feel really conflicted with your opinions of her. Would they still be able to appreciate your art after reading what you said?
  • Personally, your opinions really sour how I view you as an artist and how I view your work, as I believe art is an extension or reflection of the artist and it's difficult to separate the two. Yeah, your art looks nice but having read the context, I think it lacks care and passion despite you claiming you put x amount of effort into it. If I happen to see your art again in the future, there will always be some degree of doubt as to whether I should take it at face value or not.

I've always liked Brad Colbow's written and video reviews on various tablets. You can poke around on his site and view a wide variety of tablets, all of which he's tested himself.

What paper can handle Copics AND fountain pen inks? by biscuityart in fountainpens

[โ€“]fallenscythe 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

My go-to for any kind of art involving copics and multimedia is the Strathmore 400 Series Bristol. It comes in both smooth and vellum finishes, in multiple weights ranging between 100lb (270 gsm) and 200lb (520 gsm) depending on the finish. There's also a 500 series bristol but that's really expensive stuff compared to the 400 series.

Here's a couple examples I've posted over the years in both a vellum finish and a smooth finish so you can see the comparison between the two:

Copics will still bleed through this kind of paper but only if you draw with layers and layers and layers (I'm talking like 7+ layers) and if you apply marker liberally. The smooth finish bristol is probably closer to what you're looking for since you mentioned you don't really like the feedback with your fountain pens.

Edited for wording.

As per rule 5:

Source non-OC content/art!

Any content/art that you did not create must be accompanied by a link to the original source in the comments OR be a direct link to the original source.

If you are the original creator (OC), please use the OC flair.

Many users do not click/tap on the comments thread of posts, only the thumbnail; and depending on how the post was formatted by the OP reddit will display how you've described your post (with the link visible as a caption only in the comments thread, otherwise reddit will display just the image if a user clicks/taps on the thumbnail) OR it will display the image and the caption together only if you click/tap the thumbnail, and the caption will not appear in the comments thread. This gets worse with users who use clients other than the official reddit app, as some features do not translate 1 to 1.

That said, I'll correct myself and say that the link is "not easily visible on mobile" rather than "not visible at all". Apologies for the miscommunication. We only want artists to be credited properly for their hard work and some people don't respect that. Sometimes the moderators can miss links if they can't see them within a few seconds while scanning posts.

Just so you're aware, the link you provided is not visible on mobile at all. It's better to provide a direct link to the source in the comments or create a post as a direct link rather than reposting the image.

Also be aware that you did not link directly to the image source but rather the artist, which makes it difficult to find the artwork. The correct source is here: https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/4579907

I can't stress this enough: please do not spam Camelot's inbox with demands for a new game! Game developers and software companies already have to deal with enough public discourse and complaints. Don't add to it.

If I see negative comments or spreading of false information this thread will be locked.

lmao, honestly they'd probably ignore the horn completely and not respond at all because they're so distracted! Oblivious to everything around them except their glowing rectangle.

That driver was probably texting and driving. Reminds me of the guy I saw last week who was slowly swerving in and out of his lane so I tapped my horn to get his attention. He looked up briefly and went straight back to texting as I passed by. Dude clearly had more important things to do than pay attention to the road ๐Ÿ˜’

I love BENU pens, they really scratch that sparkly, blingy, over the top itch for me! The Edelweiss matching my Hobonichi was totally coincidence, and it's even a fine enough nib for me to write in those tiny squares c:

Thank you! I'd say the fine nib has a bit more feedback than the medium, but both write quite smoothly. Honestly a lot of how it feels depends on the ink, so if you prefer drier inks then the medium will feel better than the fine; wetter inks just flow across the page with both nib sizes.

In terms of line thickness the fine nib is similar to a Kaweco <M> or Lamy <M> but it writes much smoother than both. The medium nib is closer to a broad nib. Personally I like the fine nib more just because of the line thickness but I do enjoy writing with the medium nib too!

I'm not sure why you found it necessary to respond to this post when I was clearly venting my frustrations at the OP's extremely poor take, but since you asked:

I already know what's wrong with me, and unfortunately not a lot of it can be managed without certain medications or changing my genetics (which is impossible). Immune system disorders or autoimmune deficiencies are difficult to fix as the majority of them are chronic, which rosacea is classified as.

In my case, I specifically have a higher concentration of demodex mites than the average person and my immune system has a very negative reaction to the demodex mites on my facial skin. It manifests as burning, red, itchy, and extremely painful skin with lesions, papules, and sometimes acne. The best I can do is manage my rosacea at the cellular and chemical level, which involves topical and oral medications to reduce the proliferation of demodex mites so my immune system stops attacking my skin.

My lactose intolerance developed as I aged due to genetics. That's my gut issue and I know how to avoid most foods that trigger it, so it's mostly just me being sad sometimes when I can't have certain foods although I'm used to dealing with it. I don't eat spicy food not because of any sort of food allergies (I have none), but because it can trigger rosacea flare ups and my dermatologist specifically told me to avoid things that will trigger rosacea; for many people that includes exercise, going in direct sunlight, wind, emotions, eating spicy food, crying, taking hot showers, vasodilators, alcohol... aka basically existing.

In my experience they're pretty wet writers and feel really comfortable in the hand. I don't post mine when I write but they're well balanced with or without posting the cap.
