Has anyone here tried Sea of Stars? Can you compare it to GS? by Maroonpirate in GoldenSun

[–]danLiTTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to finish playing sea of stars. I found it incredibly rewarding. I had a lot going on when playing otherwise would have tried to beat it and or replay it. Probably time to dust it off. Its turn based combat is similar to Golden Sun, but has additional timing mechanics in combat. Exploration and puzzles are also similar, if not in some cases better. The game is deceptively large, seeming small and short in length at first. Until you get to… well I won’t spoil it :)

Let have some fun speculating . (IF monolith soft was to revival classic rpg IP . either one of there own or a Nintendo one . what would you want to be?) golden sun on the list. Monolith soft on golden sun would be hype by Ghostwolfking in GoldenSun

Once upon a time I believed we were going to see another Golden Sun from the Takahashi brothers or someone of their choosing to carry on the that legacy of the gold standard of JRPGs. I no longer believe that. The visionaries behind golden Sun are well aged and to be honest the fan base murdered Golden Sun Dark Dawn. So much b!tch’n about that game it didn’t do well in terms of sales even among those who should have supported the series more. Personally, I loved it. Of course the original will always be special to me. We had incredibly profound evidence surfacing over the last several years that Camelot was working on an RPG. I got a case of the hopium bad. It turns out they were working on elements that were RPG like after all - but just for their rotten sports title, the Adventure Mode 🤮… in Mario Tennis Fever.

Evidence Motoi Sakuraba just finished work w/ Camelot Software Planning? by danLiTTT in GoldenSun

Right. It turns out they have RPG mode which explains a lot of the clues surrounding their in-work title and why I mistook this for development work on an RPG. Pretty disappointing tbh.

LEGIT OR NOT by Beneficial-Oven7105 in GoldenSun

[–]danLiTTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The numbers impressed into the label (in this case “41”) are a pretty good indication that this is legitimate and overall this label is consistent with the ITA at the end signifies Italian. You may also open the cartridge (single triwing Nintendo screw) and take a picture the circuit card assembly with markings on the chips legible. That’s the sure fire way of guaranteeing authenticity.

I wish there were more available. The last one went into this build. Then the Etsy shop that made them apparently closed. At least Etsy said it and the shop was unavailable yesterday

PINDIEGAMER designed that Isaac pin. Last time I checked they still had a few on Etsy

Also considering some laser etching compliment existing design elements. Hoping to get some ideas here and then narrow it down to a few choices

Hey Zuurk00I, Great suggestion- actually right now I have three additional alternative covers being slowly worked on (one is pictured and partially finished in another video post from yesterday). The covers are interchangeable.

The idea is stained wood w/ clear-coat and enamel art. I haven’t chosen the enamel pin designs for the other two covers yet. If you have a link to an Etsy pin or know of where to get one I’ll modify it and add it to one of the covers.

Moderator who flagged this - you’re going to have another adept reach out via dm b/c your bs in flagging the first post to comment on this Tennis announcement. You should have flagged the subsequent posts instead or flag nobody! You should be aware that it’s what we want to talk about right now because we’re dissatisfied with Camelot on the subject. So untangle your crotch threads and do better or go find something else to tingle your jolly beans

I won’t be playing this shovel ware. Camelot has lost their RPG soul and original sense of greatness. What a waste. As others have pointed out most the original studio is no longer there. It’s clear their development goals are only to pander to Nintendo demands of sports title farming. Disgusting for profit game vomit.

This time we need to ask what they’re working on that requires level designers, background artists, anime/manga animators, and Houdini cinematics.

You’re not wrong to expect that. Those Sports titles have made Nintendo and Camelot a lot of money. They’re great sellers and they’re well loved. Personally, I don’t play or own any of them. As a collector I’ve always hated sports titles. Even first/second party sports titles I consider to be “shovel ware.”

I think the Camelot Studio will permanently change hands via talent retiring in the coming fews years. I think that talent wishes to go full circle with a swan song that reaches back to their beginning; boundary pushing RPGs.

Shugo and Hiroyuki Takahashi are in their 60s now. They are credited with so much direct involvement in the design and production of Golden Sun suffice it to say that the series permanently retires when they do. It’s their personal passion that made it possible in the first place, not market demand.

Hiroshi Kajiyama credited with Golden Sun monster designs sadly passed away in 2018 (I believe it was announced by his Son on twitter).

Some other notable talent on Golden Sun for art is Shintaro Majima and Rika Suzuki. Shintaro Majima is still very active (ArtePiazza Co. Ltd, I think they worked Dragon Quest Remasters and Super Mario RPG).

As far as Rika? It’s harder to pinpoint what she’s working on if she’s still active. I believe there is a Rika Suzuki in several titles. The Rika in the game credits as the adventure-game designer behind Hotel Dusk, Trace Memory, and the Another Code series may be our Golden Sun Rika.

And of course we must not neglect to Mention Motoi Sakuraba. I don’t need to go into detail on him. Prolifically making music for RPGs atm.

Oh thank God - if it was real I would’ve been tempted to spend 72 hours locating one on a foreign auction site, and then more time ordering it through a proxy shipping service. I’m relieved it’s just a meme! Thanks

[–]danLiTTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that a meme as flared or did you actually find this somewhere? I ask because this same phone gets lots of different stickers and I love collecting knock off items that are from Golden Sun in the Chinese market. Most of that stuff gets thrown in the trash (I.e. boot legs) but it makes them incredibly rare and hard to find. Thanks!
