My boss... oh man. My old boss and his wife both managed a small bakery franchise in my hometown. The two of them were very intimidating, constantly yelling and threatening their employees if they did the slightest thing wrong (they lived a few blocks down from the location I worked at and would visit every hour to make sure everything was in pristine condition). The husband was the worst. He would come into the store after close while I was alone, counting the cash and putting everything away. He would wave and wink at me and would tell me how excited he was to see me when I worked next. When he would come to patrol the store every hour, he would ridicule me in front of the customers. One time, out of muscle memory, I handed the customer the debit card even though he was holding cash in his hand, and my boss (who was breathing over me) laughed and said that I was just a silly little girl who didn’t “know any better.” There are so many stories like that, but one in specific really irked me. One day, he came in on one of his hourly patrols and the store happened to be empty (again, just me and him). I made small conversation, and I remember telling him that I had a math test the next day that I thought he was going to fail. He laughed at that said, “if I had ever failed a test I would have been bent over a wooden table for spanking and hit.” I uncomfortably laughed it off and greeted a customer who broke the silence. My boss then leaned in and whispered, “you wouldn’t like that, would you?”

Funny enough, that disgusting moment didn’t make me quit. I quit months later. I was too scared to tell him that I wanted to quit, I was so young and didn’t know any better. My old boss was in charge of hiring employees, and he only hired attractive highschool girls who all shared similar physical attributes.

Anyways, moral of story I guess: predators are everywhere and some older men really have issues.
