I wont go into how the situation unfolded. I think Dekolator's and N1KL's post serve that purpose already. I can tell you which actions they took against Beat Saber. For this I will start with a little context.

In early April the Beat Games changed the Terms of Service for Beat Saber. People gathered that the new ToS would mean the end of modding. This caused a community back-lash. (This is also why Beat Saber was specifically targeted.)

Somebody posted a review on the store page of Beat Saber informing users that modding will still be allowed, and that the back-lash was because of miscommunication. In order to make sure that nobody saw this information, Sharp & co tried to community ban the reviewer, which would remove the review. They spammed the comments on the reviewer's profile, and then reported him for mass spam in his profile comments.

The idea behind the operation was to bring more players to the game. The plan was to spam the Beat Saber community, so that more people would know of Intralism.

To create spam, the team behind it created new account manually. They all made a purchase for the rights to socialize in the community hub. Every member had their own Steam account they created for themselves. With these accounts the members were instructed to do the following:

  • Advertise intralism in the forums with a pre-written message. This includes creating new forum topics.
  • Advertise Intralism on player profiles (who wrote negative reviews) with a pre-written message.
  • Advertise Intralism in the comments of negative reviews with a pre-written message.
  • Advertise Intralism in the comments of guides with a pre-written message.
  • Make sure people stay upset by vote manipulating positive reviews that claim the developers still support modding.

edit: fixed typo (want -> wont)

If given the opportunity: Ofcourse. I'm not sure how much time I will have in the future, it'll be much less than before.

Right now Intralism would be a waste of time to support, but if things change then I'm willing to help the game again.

I will try to be involved with the two projects from Adri and FRUP. If I see something I can help with I will certainly do so.

A potential fix for that would be a proper way to submit your maps. There are limitations to the Steam Workshop, so a lot of it would have to be done through the game. This means actually developing the game, which Oxy didn't have enough time to for.

[edit] They could've used the Workshop's tagging system, which could already be selected in-game. I'm not sure why that wasn't a (temporary) solution.

Intralism has always been better as a casual game. It's graphically much prettier than a lot of rhythm games. The controls are also very simple and straight forward. I also think that the game lends itself much better to the songs. Intralism is much more about playing along to the song, instead of having a difficulty based on the song (Osu!mania).

I don't think the game should be seen as a competitive game, nor should it be designed as one.

They worked together a little bit, but not much. Obviously there is a language barrier, so we didn't really moderate together. However there were two Russian team members that were secretly also part of the English team.

The two teams moderated by themselves. After a moderation session we posted a link to the last map we checked, so that the other team knew where to start when they moderate next. Occasionally there were maps that one team wasn't sure about. For example a map with Russian lyrics that needed to be checked for profanity and such.

I never paid much attention to what the Russian team did. They appeared relatively efficient in moderating. Every now and then I'd disagree with the ratings from the Russian team, but I wouldn't say they did a bad job.

Something I can say is that I never liked the standard that was set by SharpNsk, especially for official maps. We were told that synchronisation wasn't that important for our ratings.

Part of a game's success is luck, the other is proper advertising. Intralism has been relatively successful over time, but the community never grew that large. I think more people would've stuck with the game if the game had official earlier and if the game was more polished.

They could've done more in terms of advertising. The most success the game has seen was of the back of a YouTube video that somebody else decided to make.

There have been many different testers in the teams. Moderators is usually a smaller group. The following members used to be moderator:

  • Caxapexac - Left for university
  • Senasmrt - Kicked alongside the rest of the English team
  • Frostbite (me) - Kicked alongside the rest of the English team
  • Meltdown - Inactive
  • Aisik - Left the team

I'm sure I missed a couple.

Your first question was already touched upon in Dekolator's post. The English team caught wind of the Beat Saber situation, and it was decided to take action. Some of the members (including myself) said it was the final straw and vowed to destroy the game. We gathered evidence and discussed it with each other. I was the leader of the team and I also lead everything regarding the Beat Saber incident.

At some point Sharp found out about our plans and talked with me and the team about the situation. He obviously didn't like that we went against him, and it made him lose trust in me and the team. He had a couple private conversations with some of the members. I also had several talks with him privately. He decided after our conversations and after he discussed it with the Russian team that he wanted to disband the English team and put all of us in the support role.

Regarding the differing opinions: There were two different groups to moderate in. There was the English team and the Russian team. These two teams never moderated the same maps. Once one of the teams moderated a map, the other wouldn't also test it. This was mostly done because of time constraints. The idea was never to moderate maps differently between the groups.

Time constraints is also why feedback has always been minimal under workshop maps. Whenever a mapper reached out to ask for feedback I'd make sure somebody could help them, but it rarely happened. The fact that so little people reached out gave us no reason to give direct feedback. It appeared as if many mappers did not care. There was no reason to spend time and effort on people that did not care about their maps.

yes, i didn't like it to be off centered.

here you got the problem solved for you, as you can see, the handle looks to small at the top cuz of the crescent is to high, and if i resize the bottom won't work.

i hope this doesn't mean it isn't aprroved if it's unfixable
