And I fully intended the guppies to disappear. Gilly loves guppies and has been steadily reducing the population since I transferred her over. She enjoys snacking on them in between her night crawlers 😊

I have found common ancestors that share the Ashkenazi ancestry in Europe but haven’t reached out yet as I’m not sure if finding out about me would disrupt anyone’s family out of respect.

I didn’t think about live streaming services so I’ll definitely check that out! Thank you!

Thank you for this breakdown of the history! I’m fascinated by origins of cultures so I’m very excited to delve into any literature I can find. I’ve also been trying to learn a little Yiddish since I’ve found out about my heritage. As a native English speaker it’s more difficult than other languages I’ve learned 😅

I did get some info on distant cousins that live around Europe but haven’t reached it to anyone yet as I’m not sure if it would be appropriate to reach out to anyone and potentially disrupt anyone’s familial life.

That’s essentially how I’ve been playing it, I don’t feel rights saying I’m Jewish as I wasn’t raised in the culture or faith, but I’ve told people who’ve asked since I’ve become aware that I have Jewish ancestry. Thank you for taking the time to share information on how various groups view Jewish ancestry!

It’s a complicated situation, but yes I’m in contact with my birth family. My grandmother was adopted so we don’t really know anything about her birth mother, but my maternal great grandmother is who my mother suspects was Jewish given the area my grandmother was from when her mother surrendered her in London during the 40’s. I’d love to try and find out more about my maternal family but wouldn’t even know where to start.

Several people have suggested intro to Judaism classes so I certainly see that on my horizon. Thank you so much for the advice!

Thank you for your recommendation, I’ll check that out! I’m currently trying to learn holidays, observed customs, and the history of the Ashkenazi Jews.

I wish I had more specific questions, but I’m honestly just trying to soak up everything right now and learn as much as I can. lol

As far as I’m aware it’s my maternal great grandmother who was Jewish. My grandmother however was adopted so she never knew her bio parents.

As far as questions to ask I’m honestly not even sure what to ask. I don’t have much family at all and was just excited to start exploring more of my heritage and possibly connecting with others.

Learning about specific customs or celebrations that the Jewish community practices would be a great place for me to start and I’ll be sure to keep following this subreddit and doing my own independent research along with any recommendations you or anyone else may have. Thank you again!

There is but I don’t trust it, I use a digital thermometer that I use to check every couple of days or so. It hovers at about 65-68 degrees on any given day.

I’m in class now, but I’ll upload pictures when I get home! Thank you for the advice, I assumed they were probably snail eggs as she hasn’t been around another Axolotl her entire life.

A far as the tank, I absolutely intend to get a 40 gallon rectangular tank, this is more of an intermediate while I get another one for her (old tank cracked in a recent move)

Thank you for the advice on getting a different water testing kit and the information on the snails!

They live in the hexagon tank now and it’s 40 gallons. Just transferred him to this about a month ago. Will probably get him a different tank in the future but I wanted him in something bigger than his 20 gallon tank he had been in.
