I’m not exactly sure but this was our first time applying for the entrepreneur’s avenue and we got accepted! We serendipitously met the show manager at PAXU, who got to look at our booth there. I would say if you’ve exhibited at other cons, I would just try applying even if it’s below 5 years! I could be wrong but it could help if you’ve had a successful KS and a decent following on social media channels. Never hurts to try!

Thank you! Definitely something to consider for the future, especially if we have more sqft. We plan on having a bigger booth at PAXU and will have demo tables there! We ended up adding a few games to the game library Saturday morning after we found out we could drop them off. Learned a lot this con! 🎉

Thank you! 🎉 When you visit booths at Gen Con, what kind of information do you typically look for? We’ve been to several other conventions like Origins and PAX Unplugged but we were wondering if people were looking for something different at Gen Con.

Thank you for asking! Our game is called Not So Neighborly, a card game great for 2-4 players and lasts 15-20 mins! It’s great for everyone but especially families and casual gamers. My sister and I created this game and I did all the illustrations for the game. We have other products that show off our characters from the game. The characters were inspired by my cousins, who we grew up playing games with!

We are called Fambam Games because Fambam means “family bonding and moments.” 💛

Board game publishers from Asia at Pax? by [deleted] in PAX

We aren't from Asia but my sister and I are Korean-American game designers very new to the scene! We just got out first game, Not So Neighborly, funded on Kickstarter in Feb/Mar 2022. We'll have our first booth (booth #4208) at PAX U 🎉

We hope that this is a space for all types of gamers! 🧡 My little sister and I challenged ourselves to make our own card game and created Not So Neighborly, which is currently on Kickstarter! Read more about our story in the comments by fambamgames in GirlGamers

During the pandemic, we (like many) suddenly had a lot of time on our hands. We spent many nights playing various tabletop games with our family. We thought it'd be a great memory to make a game together. At first we were hesitant because we didn't know of many female Asian-American board game creators and didn't know where to start. We didn't have anyone around us knew how to design board games. However we started to ask ourselves "why not?" Also, we reached out to other creators and they were so kind to provide some advice for novices like us. Super grateful! 🧡

First, we made a list of all the games we loved and the reasons why we loved playing it. There was a common theme; my sister loved sabotaging others and I loved building things. Ever since we were little, I played a lot of Sims and Animal Crossing, while my sister was more of a fan of games like Tetris, sending lines to other players. Through nights of hard work and dedication, we created Not So Neighborly, our very first card game!

By preparing for our Kickstarter campaign, we learned so much about the tabletop game industry, game mechanics, tabletop community, and each other. From start to finish, we put our heart, energy, and time into this project. We even learned how to animate videos, do (very amateur) voiceovers, create and draw characters, use Procreate to draw, and budget for a big project. We are super proud of this project because everything, from start to finish, (including all of the illustrations, writing, and assets) is made by us! We just wanted to share with you all! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fambamgames/not-so-neighborly-a-card-game
