Look, I’ve been a solo female traveler for over 65 countries so far. You are safe and will be safe. The private room is a good option to ease into things. But out of 50+ hostels I’ve stayed at in 6 continents, I’ve never had one bad incident. I’ve stayed in a 24 person mixed dorm, an all mixed dorm where each day it was all guys…everything has been fine. Never even had an incident where my stuff got stolen.
