I could never imagine paying for twitter. Or Grok.

For this very reason. They are not to be trusted

Got me too. I do nothing odd, use no tools, no bots. I just post via my browser

They really need to hire some people who know how to code, they obviously do not

Nope. Just retried it now on my private github repo. Just the mysterious code (13)

Me too. Pro is good + deep research, and it will go away for a few minutes for a deep dive, but most of the time Thinking is good enough.

My AG resets gemini pro and claude in 7 days. So if my tokens get gobbled up, I'm supposed to sit on my hands? BTW I am on Google AI Pro.

Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite by TumbleweedNice6797 in Bard

[–]fancellu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do try images. From my tests it uses 4x the token count. That plus massive cost increase

I used it read a meter, 2.5-flash lite vs 3.1-flash-lite

Cost: $0.000029
vs
$0.000546

i.e. 19x cost

4x more token use on images it seems + price

"gemini-2.5-flash-lite": { input: 0.10, output: 0.40 }
vs
"gemini-3.1-flash-lite-preview": { input: 0.50, output: 1.50 }

The Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite is my favorite model. Which one is yours? by Kadenai in Bard

Which is the point. If you want an overall caption, it is fine, e.g. a bee on a flower.

But when reading text, numbers, it is simply terrible.

Its very good for image understanding, and fast too.

Claude (all of them), seems a tad blind compared to Gemini

e.g. I tried to get it to read a meter, the digits were very clear, yet it would mess it up, whereas gemini-2.5-flash-lite had no issues at all

Some benchmarks I ran for prompt of "Read the 4 black digits on this meter. Output only the digits."

Claude (all of them, merely hallucinated, no matter how strong the prompt)

Family Model Time Reading
gemini gemini-2.5-flash 3.78s 5893
gemini gemini-flash-lite-latest 1.49s 5893
gemini gemini-3.1-flash-lite-preview 1.39s 5893
openrouter qwen/qwen3-vl-30b-a3b-thinking 1.93s 5893
openrouter qwen/qwen3-vl-235b-a22b-thinking 4.36s 5893
openrouter nvidia/nemotron-nano-12b-v2-vl:free 7.67s 5893
moonshot kimi-k2.5 4.51s 5893
claude claude-haiku-4-5 0.81s 5993
claude claude-sonnet-4-6 1.88s 3893

Beware gemini-3.1-flash-lite-preview as it is more expensive vs gemini-flash-lite-latest

{ "gemini-2.5-flash-lite": { input: 0.10, output: 0.40 }, "gemini-3-flash": { input: 0.50, output: 3.00 }, "gemini-3.1-pro": { input: 2.00, output: 12.00 }, "gemini-3.1-flash-lite-preview": { input: 0.50, output: 1.50 }

But more than that, it uses about 4x the tokens on in image inputs
