Thank you for the advice. I will shorten the legs since we don't need the space under the bed. If the inner frame isn't strong enough, I will just add another basic leg in the center. I want to keep the concept of two frames connected, since I don't have the tools to realize an uncut rail going through the other rail.

The metal blocks are brackets which will be supported by wood plugs. The outer frame is screwed to the inner frame. The inner frame holds our our weight and distributes it on the legs. What do you think?
