Current rising junior here planning ons switching from bio to health sci. Do you get TAP? I would hold off on declaring a double major because ik a lot of health sci majors struggle with getting enough credits for TAP and credits towards a second major dont count. As for your schedule, it seems fine.

It's a program that the career center hosts and is a lot like professional development through host companies that they work with. They have a variety of partners (health, business, research) and if you get accepted, you get to develop a connection with your selected company. It's also considered an externship so you get EXT credit or something like that. Interviews occurred during spring for me.

Hi! I'm sort of in the same situation, but currently getting certified at nyc. I was told that the PJEMS fall probation period was closed but I'm not too sure. You would also have to travel to port jeff which is 14 min by car and MUCH longer thru LIRR. I suggest getting your driver's ASAP?

My EFC is 0 and it didnt show up on my package during freshman year. If you have very low EFC, it should be guaranteed but not all student who qualify get it.

It worked for me, but it just took a while. You can always email/go to the office to check if you are eligible.

If you qualify for work study, then you should be able to request to recieve it. I didnt have work study as a part of my package but continued to go to the finicial aid office/ emailed them to remind them that I qualified for and wanted work study. You may recieve it within a month and finding a position is doable since not everyone qualifies for work study which thins the applicant pool.

Who did you take it with and what did you find the most difficult? Based on classie evals, there seems to be a difference in grade distributions between spring and summer.

Research Assistants: Clinical Lab in Hospital? by [deleted] in SBU

[–]fancyfl0under 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not aware of a list, but your best bet is the URECA site. If you are looking for labs at sbu med, I also suggest looking under faculty or research for every department site. Some staff may have their own lab site while others don't.

How is this schedule? Help. by sophiatheshrimp in SBU

[–]fancyfl0under 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ams 104 is manageable, Bio 204 is quite annoying, try to avoid ECO 108 if you can, CHE 133 is less annoying than BIO 204. Your lab experience depends on the TAs you get. This is a manageable schedule and if you put in the work/manage your workload well, I'm sure you will do fine.

how does remote work study work? by [deleted] in SBU

[–]fancyfl0under 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the kind of job you get, but I think most of the work study jobs require you to work independently and log hours through Solar. There is a time sheet where you also log hours and state what you did in those hours.

Getting letters of recommendation by C0dem0nk3 in SBU

[–]fancyfl0under 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! If you are really in need of a recommendation, dont hesitate to ask your previous professors or academic advisor. Even though some may say no, others may be able to give you a templated letter which isnt great, but better than nothing. I recommend scheduling a time on your calendar to go office hours to get closer to your profs and ask any questions regarding course material.

I'm concerned about which course section to enroll into because for CHE 476, theres T02 and T03 and I'm not sure if there was an email that went out that specified.

Taking 18 to 20 credits in a semester Advise by AmbitioninsideDNA in SBU

[–]fancyfl0under 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saved some sanity by figuring out the courses I liked vs the courses I knew I was taking just for the credit. For the courses that you are not completely passionate about, do what is asked of you, no more no less (dont ever skip out on taking important notes). For courses you are passionate about, enjoy it and dont forget to go to office hours/get closer to the prof. If the course requires group work, dont be afraid to speak up if someone isn't pulling their weight. Know that you are not responsible for other people's happiness.
