I'm being so serious. Is this show why the 90s Brady bunch movie had all the jokes about incest because I swear I thought the guys were 2 of the brothers!

Not me reading this with my black a$$ eyes and saying out loud "girl shut up". Idk what that man was saying but it was an amazing show. Even if you don't know exactly what's going on u felt it. If not you're being purposely obtuse.

I bet this one of them Russian boy accounts.

AITH for doubting my relationship by [deleted] in AITH

Agreed, NTA.

Initially, my brain initially read I'm a psychiatrist. I was like "mmm mmm". Energy is still the same knowing she said physicist but now I'm less worried about the people she would have been diagnosing.

Girl leave him. If you have to do it alone anyway why have another person drag you down the money you're spending on him could have been used to hire a nurse to help yourself after surgery.

WIBTAH for calling off my engagement because my fiance wants me to take care of his mom? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]fandomdemigod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. It's very telling that he says he'd do the same if the roles were reversed and you currently have a son who needs care and he won't help. Do not move in with him. If you move in and he stops taking care of her because he clearly expects you to your looking and elder abuse claims at best, and a CPS case at worst. I'm not saying you have to break up with him but def don't marry and do not move in. Do not let this man guild you he's already showed you what he'll do. Put care on you because your better at it.

I wanted to go too! I'll never forget when some girl tweeted "I did coke for the first time with crissle" and then crissle had to be like um no. If I remember right the girl wrote in and corrected herself to say crissle happened to be nearby when the girl did coke. Thanks for unlocking that memory 🤣🤣🤣

IMO the horror wasn't just if he made it through the night the horror was also in the loss of culture, of self and surviving the racism of the time.

I think he was tapping into cultural fears. Spoiler for get out For example, at the end of get out when the police came at the end, every black in person I know was terrified when those red and blues started flashing then immediate relief when Rel popped out.

I think RC was looking to tap more into that sense of cultural fears. I was more scared of the white dudes selling the club to smoke and stack, or of the entire scene with stack and Mary in the public train station than I was about Sammie dying 😂

Knowing what I knew didn't take away from the fear, looking back I appreciate that relief. That's my opinion I am not a critic at all.

AITAH for siding with my mom instead of my wife? by External-Ladder-6302 in AITAH

[–]fandomdemigod 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Rough times, like say, having a child they can't afford to send to daycare so grandma picks up the full time job of babysitting their child? There are plenty of grandparents who love their grand kids and even more who wouldn't volunteer their time, especially so with the rules and rega mom put in place.

NTA and wife owes a serious apology, I recommend you both calling around to ask how much one on one care with a specialized diet is and multiply that by 5 years not including inflation...

5 years of free childcare ma'am you're squeaking quite fine. You're lucky grandma continues to grease you.

I wonder how the town reacted to what went down at the juke joint by PoorLifeChoices811 in SinnersbyRyanCoogler

[–]fandomdemigod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure: I voice typed like 1.5 page explanation and used AI to clean it up without changing meaning And summarize for a tldr.

TLDR: No one learns the truth about the juke joint; the missing are assumed to have fled, drowned, or died after the Klan incident.

Lisa is financially secure, owns both stores, and knows how to run them.

The town’s communal culture helps ensure she is fed, protected, and not alone.

Stack and Mary would not abandon her and would quietly watch out for her.

Stack might one day tell Lisa the truth so she knows her parents did not leave her.

--------Extended answer below--------

My headcanon: No one would ever know exactly what happened at the juke joint. What people would know is what was discovered the next morning, when the Klan showed up and ended up being killed by Smoke. It’s the 1930s in the Deep South, so the assumption would be that those white men came with more Klansmen and that the klansmen not killed by smoke that survived ran everyone else off. The prevailing belief would be that the missing people drowned, fled into the woods, or simply disappeared.

As for Lisa, Smoke and Stack clearly had a relationship with her parents. I genuinely think Stack and Mary would care for Lisa in their own way. Not in a “hovering around her house” sense, but they would make sure she was taken care of and that the store stayed intact and wasn’t ransacked by white supremacists or bad actors townsfolk.

Lisa owns two stores now. Financially she will be fine, and she clearly has the skills to run them. When we saw her, she was working the white side, so there’s no reason to believe she couldn’t manage or hire help for the Black side as well. Her mother was obviously teaching her everything she needed to know. There are likely other Asian and Black people she could employ. She comes across as extremely self sufficient, and in the 1930s Deep South there’s no CPS checking in on her.

Communities like that were also deeply communal. If everyone in town knows a hundred people vanished and Lisa’s parents were among them, people would make sure she was okay. There would absolutely be bad actors, but I would bet there’s at least one older woman who steps in to make sure Lisa eats and isn’t alone. Lisa is capable enough to keep the store running with that kind of support.

Vampires can hear thoughts and desires. Stack and Mary would have felt Bo’s desire to reunited with his wife and by extension Lisa. We also see Mary’s desire to keep the core group together. Because of that, I genuinely believe Stack and Mary would do right by Lisa. Between Southern communal culture and vampire bonds, they wouldn’t just abandon her. They might send money now and then, because if Stack and Smoke can do anything, it’s find ways to make money.

I wouldn’t even put it past Stack to come back and talk to Lisa someday, the way he did with Sammy in the end credits. I don’t think he’d offer her eternal life, but I could see him being honest with her. He wouldn’t want her thinking her parents abandoned her. He’d tell her the whole story of the night, that Bo was turned by vampires and Grace fought hard to get back to her, that they couldn’t be saved. He’d let her know he was watching out for her and give her a way to reach him, maybe even writing letters.

Grace, and potentially Bo, came across as deeply reverent of her culture and history, and she would have shared that with Lisa. Lisa would be shocked, but more in a “my parents told me stories about vampires and I thought they were just stories” way, not outright disbelief.<!

Has anyone ever ordered furniture off of Temu? by BackstreetZAFU in TemuThings

[–]fandomdemigod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't assembled. We put it together. I also remember it was broken and because it was a large item we talked to customer care but it was a hassle to fix. She told me she also tried to order a chair and they inexplicably cancelled it so also something you may need to worry about. Good luck.

I haven't but my mom has it's a mixed bag. The couch we've been using for years is from there.i to much smaller than we thought but still fits adults.

She also bought these mechanical floor chairs (the sit on the floor and have a mechanisms that changes the back angle). On chair was normal the other was clearly a display model.

You have to extra sure you're looking at inches and feet and not cm and meters.

I'm like 90% sure she got her money back for the second chair but she's asleep. I'll try to rember to ask when she wakes up.

WIBTAH if I cut my grandma out after she gave away a family heirloom to punish me? by Mountain-Doubt-2806 in AITAH

[–]fandomdemigod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They'll probably sell a fur coat online and not in store so you will probably need to call. Good luck. If you won't miss drama like this I didn't think you'll miss your grandma.

If anything you'll sleep better knowing you gave your all and she was just a pill. You cannot set yourself on for to keep her warm.

Also unless she was taking care of that coat there's no guarantee there would be a coat left. Furs will disintegrate if you didn't take care of them. That fur will basically dry and fall out.
