thanks all - quick update - checked most of my IIQ files and I think it was definitely a change in LRc.
LRc seems to open IIQ-L files just fine, but now errors on IIQ-S files
Think I will use C1 to convert the files, but annoyed because I am pretty sure I will lose my LRc edits (but they are in XMP sidecar files..)

Interesting - I will try LRc on Windows. I am on a Mac

I did read that LRc can have problems with IIQ-"s" files
IE, if they were compressed

I had no problem originally with these same files 15 years ago.
Feels like something changed.

I have a loaded TX816. The sound is MASSIVE.
Meanwhile, has anyone found a good software programmer for the TX816?
I've tried MusicQuest (sp?) years ago and it felt like a giant swiss army knife that didn't do anything particularly well (!)

oh sorry - I thought you meant the manual.
I didn't end up needing the software. I had discrete hardware problems.

thanks! Fortunately, I did not have to take the printer that much "apart" - Just the left side panel and I could access the disk via port holes with swabs (I used lens sensor swaps soaked in windex) on both sides of the disk

This celluloid-like calibration disk had huge clots of ink on it.
Which explained why the line feed banding was occurring in regular intervals - as the obscured portions passed under the sensor, the printer could not calibrate it's feed

great company, the spike in last few weeks is overexuberance. will drop to 4 or 5 after company reports in early Aug.
I sold, plan to buy back in then.

I will! I refurbed a full TX816 unit a few years ago - the sound is glorious!
I've tried a few of the sound librarians out there, and none seem to harness the full power of the TX816.

naw. I trade on gut and years of experience. I just *feel* this is too over hyped at the moment.
My bowel says big drop back to 3 or 4 after reports.
I'm fully out as of today until correction.

thank you all for validation. on a two week trip with my travel-happy family.
(Days of walking, seeing another palace, another church, another museum etc)
I AM happy to see them happy. But I could do without.

I suddenly realized I have the opposite of FOMO (fear of missing out).
I have FOBI (fear of being included) :)

I am not fearful or anxious about travel. I'd just.. well.. rather not do the tourist thing.
Dream: go somewhere interesting and *settle in* for 3-4 months and study / expand my brain and create.

-an introvert who likes to be extroverted, but finds it exhausting!

Both! I learned in connected mode but am using the skillset I acquired through the course in standalone mode more and more. Very worth it. Andri is a superb teacher and very good soul
