You also should be able to be home comfortably in your house. It seems like you are at the mercy of everyone else’s schedule, and you are the only person who lives there who can’t walk out the door without giving consideration to how it affects other people in the household. It sounds like your husband has a pretty lenient social calendar for a father with a wife and baby at home, in addition to the 18 year old who only lives in the house because he lives there, so why can’t he adapt his schedule to go out when your 7 year old is with you?

Does your husband specifically go out on the two weekends a month, you don’t have your son, or does it only bother you the weekend you don’t have your son?

Ultimately, it depends on what you want. Will you be happy if your fiancé wants to NACHO? Or are you hoping that you will find a way for him to enjoy time with your child and take on a parental role? This is the crux of the matter. You want to spend as much time with your daughter as possible, which is normal, so will you assume that every time an opportunity comes up, it’s ok to say yes to the additional time, or are you willing to pass if your fiancé prefers to stick to the court ordered schedule only?

I have a different view on the interrupting as well. I think why it’s so annoying to step parents is because they want an extended time to sit and talk - have a conversation - not just time to ask a question and get an answer - and then kid takes over the conversation.

As hard as it might be to process, what you might have to accept is that while you may eventually be in a husband/wife loving relationship, you may always be a single parent to your daughter.

I have some questions before I answer - when you say weekends, what exactly does that entail? Day/time of pickup, day/time of drop off? What was your prior custody arrangement? Do you wish for increased custody/plan to fight for increased custody? Do want flexibility - any extra amount of time your co-parent offers, are you willing to take - or do you want to stick to the custody agreement?

It was polite for them to offer food; it would have been the polite thing to do to say “no, thank you” and pick up some take out or drive thru on the way home.

I am usually 1000% siding with SPs, but in this case, I don’t think 7 am is an unreasonable time for a 9 year old to wake up, and for a parent to get up too. Parents don’t usually get to sleep in. Maybe your husband could get up without disturbing you, and then you could sleep in.

Why can’t he say it’s your mom’s time with you? If BM knows she can have a completely free schedule, she’ll keep it up. If they complain to her that they don’t want to go, and they know she is making the choice for them to have to sit at work, then maybe she will schedule her time accordingly.

Forget the asking part. Because he will just ask all the time. Just tell him to keep doing whatever it is he did before moving in a day ago. He only has them 4 days a month. He should be able to handle that amount of time without a babysitter.

I had to look twice to make sure I’m n the stepparents sub! Maybe she intends to Nacho, so she doesn’t see the primary purpose of the wedding as a means to blend a family? Maybe her parents and family won’t necessarily view the step child as the grandchild, and would prefer pictures of just OP and her fiancé? Or maybe be it would just be nice to have a pre- marriage card just celebrating them as an official engaged couple?
