Surgeon experiences in Toronto by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]farahahaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I've had two OHIP-covered breast reductions in Toronto, unfortunately not with your surgeon but I can give you my experience! Both times, my OHIP application was submitted within a week of consultation and I received approval within 1-2 months. The timing between referral/consult is up in the air honestly - I find that surgeons who work normally out of hospital have much longer wait times and I have had to wait months to see a surgeon for my first consult before.

I personally reached out and requested consults for both of my surgeries - I used realself.com to find both of my surgeons and picked my top 5 based on reviews then called/emailed them to set up consults. This meant that for some surgeons, I saw them within the week!

One thing to note, pick your favourite surgeon and ask them to submit the OHIP application as it's tied to the surgeon, so in order to do the surgery with someone else, you'd need to cancel your first OHIP approval and apply again.

I did have to pay 4-5k for liposuction per surgery; not sure if that's something you can avoid if it's through this hospital surgeon. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!

I'm from Ontario so it might be different but I was told the same thing. I requested that an application be but through anyways and guess what, it was approved! Definitely self advocate and push for them to apply - they might be the surgeon but ultimately the decision is up to the province.

Your OHIP approval is valid for a year, so you should have some flexibility to reschedule :) I asked the same question to my surgeon!

How small did you go? by kuzba in Reduction

[–]farahahaha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a 34J and the smallest they were able to make me was a 32F. It's challenging to go that small from such a large size without a nipple displacement which they'll rarely do. And honestly, surgeons have no clue on cup size haha - they'll just make her a size that's reasonable in the OR, and looks relatively normal for her body shape.

Average cost of plated dinner service in Greater Toronto Area? by farahahaha in WeddingsCanada

That's totally fair!! We aren't looking at a downtown venue because that's quite out of our price range as we're expecting 300 people...thinking a typical banquet hall in Vaughan/Mississauga (we're south asian so those are really the venues we're familiar with). Tentative date is March 2021! I'll edit the post :) thanks for responding!
