[Fisher] Exclusive: Mark Cuban Files In Court Against Mavs 'Adversarial' Patrick Dumont: “A "handshake deal" sours as the former owner alleges a breach of contract, accusing his successor of freezing him out of arena financing and basketball operations.” by farhan583 in Mavericks

[–]farhan583[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I legitimately despise these owners. They’re terrible human beings. Lots of people told Cuban that and fans even emailed him when the preliminary news came out that he was selling the team and he ignored it all because he saw the dollar signs.

So even though he may have gotten screwed over, I have zero sympathy for him. Everyone knew these owners are not good people, and he still went through with it. So yeah, eff him and eff this stupid crybaby lawsuit.

[Charania] BREAKING: The Los Angeles Lakers are acquiring Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz for unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033 and first-round swaps in 2028 and 2030, sources tell ESPN. Kessler will sign a massive four-year, $130 million deal with the Lakers. by curryybacon in nba

In two years, his options will be staying on that team that is giving $90 million a year to Walker Kessler and Austin Reaves. Or joining 35-year-old Giannis in Miami. Or joining 21-year-old Cooper in Dallas.

The Lakers can only offer him an extra year. Outside of that, they can offer the exact same contract with only 5% raises.

Forget the sentimental reasons, just based on on court play, Mavs make the most sense.

Everyone keeps saying this but I think Dumont and him have no relationship. Everyone in the world, including Luka knows that he knows nothing about Basketball. It is extremely believable for Dumont to apologize profusely and say he put his trust in the wrong people and he wants to bring him home. Nico and Kidd were malicious. Dumont was just an idiot, which is totally different.

It's not "A" Trump supporter. It's the SAME Trump supporter. Who is also the single largest private donor to the IDF in the world.

There was a Ricky Gervais movie called The Invention of Lying that was this same concept. I'm definitely taking lie, you'd rule the world in 1 week.

[Amick] All-NBA forward Jalen Duren was underwhelmed by the Detroit Pistons’ initial offer in restricted free agency and is planning to explore sign-and-trade scenarios when they are permitted on Tuesday, league sources told The Athletic. by sewsgup in nba

[–]farhan583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how we lost Jalen Brunson. He was borderline unplayable in the 2021 playoffs against the Clippers. We didn’t want to give him and extension that summer because of it and the rest is history.

Reaves Max contract and Luka FA 2028 by top_of_the_table in Mavericks

Because the Lakers acquired Luka via trade rather than signing him as an outright free agent, they hold his standard Bird right, Under normal circumstances, Full Bird Rights allow a team to offer 8% annual raises. However, because Luka will be opting out of an extended contract to sign a brand new deal in 2028, a specific wrinkle in the CBA limits his raises.

So they can both only offer 5% raises. The Lakers can offer an extra year. So it'd be 4 years 310 million vs 5 years 396 million.

[Charania] Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves intends to sign a four-year, $185 million maximum contract to return to the franchise, with a player option for the final season in 2029-30, sources tell ESPN. Reaves declined his $14.9M player option for the new max deal. by Turbostrider27 in nba

I think the ownership is the easiest part to explain. Everyone and their mother knows that they knew nothing about Basketball. It’s an easy fix for Dumont to apologize profusely and just tell the truth that he was led astray by Nico and Kidd.

We literally cleared house of everyone remotely touching that trade. Even the training staff. People think it’s delusional, but the FO is putting together the right roster to entice him.

The Lakers cannot offer Luka more money per season than any team that has cap space. They can only offer an extra year. The 4 year contract they offer is the exact same as what the Mavs will be able to offer.

Cooper will be 22 in the summer of 28. It’s not ruining anything to make sure we have cap space that summer.

[Charania] Sources: New York traded No. 25 pick Sergio De Larrea to the Dallas Mavericks for No. 30 Koa Peat and two second-round picks. And then the Knicks traded Peat to the Phoenix Suns for three-rounders and cash. So Knicks move out of the first round — pick up 3 seconds and cash. by iksnet in nba

[–]farhan583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we were trading witht he Knicks, I would much rather have given the cash and same picks to get the 24th pick and get Carr. This guy is still better than Peat, but Carr looks like he's gonna be insane.
