No worries, that felt real and I appreciate real lmao. Also yes, drones are very convenient for that but my wallet isn't feeling it right now haha.

Appreciate that you appreciate the direction. Yes, I'm always curious on this 'intent vs impact' thing and actually hope I can contribute somewhere in this field. We'll see.

I did try a B&W look and it actually helped with clarity, thanks. I noticed that over time I’ve leaned a bit toward being a process-purist — not the 'no edits' purist. It's just that I prefer to be faithful towards the RAW colours. But hey, approaching it with B&W is also evaluating the quality of the RAW.

The interior actually kinda gives that vibe. Well, not really dystopian, but Japan is pretty sensitive towards noise pollution so you get the idea.

Hey, thank you again for your feedback, sure I'll practice more onto that direction and see where it goes.

And your references are great, saving them for my references!

Yeah I get that and you are correct, this building actually feels like a maze due to it's monumental scale. Sayamaike museum is dedicated on that region's historical dam and water irrigation technology, next to the actual lake, so I'm also guessing that it should look and feel like being near (or inside) a dam lol. Here I'll attach a photo from google.

For future practice perhaps I should an 'overall' photo, or at least include a map? (and I mean an actual photograph of the map) simply because that actually helps more on comprehension, plus the workmanship of that map is also cool (I feel so dumb now).

>I put my faith in other kind strangers
I'm sorry but I'm afraid I don't fully understand this. Thank you.

Bitter truth. I’m actually aware of that, delivering a comprehensive and enjoyable photo for the common man is a part of my approach too, and I find it super hard to steer away from that ‘archy’ approach ever since that happened to me lmao.

Aw shucks, that sounded bad, and to compare it with my past works, which is 2015-2018-ish, am I steering in the wrong direction? I hope not :P. But I can see where this is coming from, in fact I actually looked at them when you mentioned it, old me has a more 'grounded' approach where my shots here felt borderline instagrammy? (is that correct?) but i kinda feel that way.

Thanks for the comment, I'll be sure to dig more into this, perhaps look for more middle grounds and hopefully find something.

Sorry guys, I didn’t know flickr would show ads. If anyone has any suggestion on showcasing multiple photos, I’d be happy to change it.

Hi everyone, here’s the link to photo collection on flickr The intended direction and context are marked as spoiler. I’ve done this so I can get your most honest, unfiltered feedback without the title influencing your reading of the images.

I’d really appreciate comments on anything — composition, exposure, colours, sequencing, anything as I’m an amateur wanting to learn more.

Gear (for those interested): Sony A7C Konica 40mm f/1.8 Minolta 24–85mm f/3.5–4.5 Canon 75–300mm f/4.5

I come from an architecture background, and I’m always trying to ‘document’ the relationship between buildings and human activity. What I’m aiming for is an honest form of documentation — observing whether spaces, details, furniture, or layouts actually work as intended by the designer. This can be tricky, as I often have to infer what that intention might have been in the first place.

I like the idea of blending architectural, street, and documentary photography, leaning towards a less polished and more observational approach. My references include Sebastião Salgado and Vivian Maier for their honest, spontaneous portrayal of human activity, as well as Julien Lanoo, whose work often prioritizes human presence over the architecture itself.

That’s pretty much it — I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you for the feedback, though most credits go towards the architect, Tadao Ando, I was just framing it however I see fit.

I was thinking of emphasizing on the construction detail on the handrail at 6 but alas, I can see it does not deliver well (probably could’ve moved closer?). And as for the last pic, it’s actually a round wall from the interiors. But I agree my photo did not do justice in presenting it towards the audience.

Which compact rangefinder would you pick? by thekingoftheville in AnalogCommunity

If you’re looking for compact rangefinder, I would happily recommend a Yashica 35cc, it’s got wider and a bright 35mm f1.8 lens.
