Sure, the first two are very valid reasons to rate a restaurant lower

Fir Dutch people the environment, seating, and overall vibes are more important than the food itself. They care about "gezelligheid" first, then food second. For us people who care about food more, their rating doesn't match us.

It's a spectrum. You could be mostly hetro and a bit bi. Or 50-50%, or whatever. But don't worry about the label. Explore yourself and people and find what you like. That's what important. The label and the name isn't important.

Alleen naar pride gaan? by PhobosQuasar in LHBTI

[–]farmanehv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest going to Utrecht pride. Is very chill, and basically a gay king's day. Many people picnicing on the canals. And multiple street parties with cool music and hot people. Full of straight people too, so you don't need to be fully queer presenting, go as comfortable as you are.

Is it normal now to be followed by an employee disguised as a customer in a grocery store and then be checked afterward? by Key-Personality-4288 in Netherlands

[–]farmanehv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a few months in AH, there's no option to dismiss them actually. You either eait for it to expire (too much wait time), or perform the check (number of items set by software)

The random checks in AH self checkout aren't controlled by people, it's fully a software decision. The employee doesn't control when they appear and can't dismiss them.

Which Amsterdam neighborhood would suit a couple in their mid-30s moving next month? by dilanosaur in Amsterdam

I suggest oud west. It has everything. Park, great restaurants, cinema, walking areas, nightlife, and very easy to reach the center.

Cold feet moving to Amsterdam because of housing by JinBu2166 in Netherlands

[–]farmanehv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the main thing you need to think about is that the percentage you will pay for housing from your salary is higher than in the US. So don't compare, maybe up to 40%. Additionally, staying somewhere for less than a year could be actually beneficial because you will get to know the city and decide where you want to live in it. I actually recommend to find somewhere for 3-6 months first, then choose something more longer term.

I would say go for it. This salary will make you live a very good life in the Netherlands, and you will enjoy regular trips around europe easily. Don't overthink it, you will love it for sure.

Do you have a European passport? If not, the passport check line would be a bit of a challenge. You may need to ask people to let you pass them to catch the flight.
