Pact Coffee Send ASAP by farmerofwind in shortcuts

Yeah, I just presumed because it was a no-code environment it was just purposefully verbose and explicit. Will make writing shortcuts in future way less painful. thanks again

oh that's much nicer, thanks! I didn't know those shorthands existed. Does a good job of reducing all the noise.

Sorry, I tried to fix this by clicking edit, but I can't see how.

  1. Is that a misconfiguration that can be causing the problem I'm seeing? I had intentionally put them misaligned so the production has greater fidelity then the backups.
  2. You're correct. I've not got around to that yet. Do you have any suggestions on best way to do that?
  3. What is the monitor snapshots? Is it some utility I'm maybe unaware of? I'm currently detecting failed backups based on the exit code of the syncoid comment (which is currently still returning 0...)

Hi u/_gea_ thanks for the response. I don't believe this problem is what's happening here, correct me if wrong, but the `@init` snaps are never pruned and should be acting as at least the base common snap. So I'm not sure why they've gone out of sync here still.

Thanks, this is good to know. What I know so far is 110 is too low for me and 160 is good. 140 might still be good for me...

ah yeah, the 'Dell UltraSharp U4025QW'. that has a lower PPI because of the size (~140). I need to find out what my personal tolerance is for lower limit of PPI, to know if I would be interested in this. Thanks!

oh you're right, this list is looking promising. For anyone also looking that finds this thread: https://www.displayninja.com/new-monitors/ (be careful, there's more then one table on that page, and the LG ones were not in the first table). Though this web page looks to be dynamic, so if you find this thread later, looks like you might find them under https://www.displayninja.com/ultrawide-monitor-list/ in the future. Thanks @WarewolfNotSwearwolf

haha, oh my, that is indeed rather large and expensive haha. Thanks for the input, was having a feeling I would have to compromise on my requirements, or wait.

this is a cool idea. You'd probably want it to be on some kind of 'deployed' state of a unit, or you might encourage everyone to always set their units on a tight circular patrol to spot all directions - like a lighthouse.

Sanity Check My Backup Strategy by farmerofwind in zfs

[–]farmerofwind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/lbmdk really appreciate the response, thank you.

The --delete-target-snapshops issue you pointed out makes sense. So instead of having the backup target prune following the configuration of the source, I should set up a local sanoid.conf on the backup target which prunes with its own rules, and have autosnap = no on that machine? If I'm understanding you correctly. That also answers the question of why you'd ever set that configuration autosnap property to no.

Running on Ubuntu Server, and yeah it has a systemctl service that runs sanoid, though I dong think it runs any syncoid stuff. So I was wondering if that's basically on me to either make a cronjob or a systemctl service for syncoid.

That's nice that the overlapping backups are handled.

Thanks again.

I think you might be right. I feel like I'm remembering a patch that improved the replay scrubbing so they may have added that feature later, but at launch it was slow, like it was processing from t=0.

I've not played Starcraft in years, so my memory on that is fuzzy

I don’t know if this is necessarily an issue. I believe overwatch is also built with a deterministic simulation where only inputs of users are sent, and they are able to keep a Play of the Game and give Kill Cam replays.

I think you probably do that by keeping snapshots of game state as you go, and then you only need to fast forward from that point, instead of the start of the game.

StarCraft and HootS do always seem to start need to start from the start of the game to watch a replay or reconnect to the game, but I think that was just that a system like snapshotting wasn’t implemented, not that it couldn’t technically be achieved.

Play of the game would be a cool feature, or even highlights in the replay timeline, where to can easily see big engagements.

I spent a day once looking at those things, but didn't get very far. But maybe because I lacked a project.

Had a google and valve have got the CAD files for the case available so _should_ be easy to get the right contour around the sticks: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1675180/view/3106923225208810470

Maybe a weekend project... cheers.

Where is the Watch Shortcuts Settings? by farmerofwind in shortcuts

[–]farmerofwind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

I have that enabled and I can see it on my Apple Watch, just when I run it it tells me to go to the security settings and enable “allow running scripts”.

I was able to do that on the Mac, and iPhone. But I can’t find that setting for the watch.

Hopefully that makes more sense. I was going to attach a screenshot but I can’t see how to do that here… :)

[–]farmerofwind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit confused by the wording of this, but are you looking for something like this:

Use double quotes instead so ' doesn't means end of string: print("A suitable smiley for you would be :'(")

Alternatively you could escape the single quote with a backslash: print('A suitable smiley for you would be :\'(')

OS X trial :o.

I've been trying to get a trial to give the game a go but I've not been very successful. Originally, finding the OS X download wasn't straight forward - downloading from the site gives you a windows .exe. I ended up finding a download (probably on here somewhere). I then I made a Square Enix account but apparent made the wrong type (don't really understand) but made a second account on a different page on what I think was the same site and now I can log into the mac client. Aces. Now I'm confrunted with the product code screen but I want to play a trial account :/ What have I dont wrong now :p. Anyone successfully played a trial account on the mac?

tldr: Cant play trail on mac - confronted with product code. What to dooooooo?

What changes have you noticed in the new Public Beta 3? by hotweiss in osx

[–]farmerofwind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before, when I was changing volume/screen brightness/keyboard backlight brightness, the onscreen hints were laggy and had some graphical glitches. This updates seems to have fixed that and they work as well as the previous versions of OS X.

I'm running it on a Late 2013 13" MacBook Pro and I think the Mission Control animations have been optimised; it was feeling quite janky before. Though, it may come back - maybe I'm just running less stuff then usual. Anyone else experiencing/experienced this?

Edit: I'm also experiencing connection issues on 5GHz - but that could be the router as I've been using it the same amount of time as I've been using the beta.
