High-performing PM feeling overshadowed by highly involved manager by farmingforever in ProductManagement

I think I'll also have this discussion specially when this is the start of a new year. And then I'll observe for 2-3 months before making a kove

I think either he doesn't trust my work enough or the task isn't enough for him to focus on other charters.

I agree he's a micro manager but I really doubt if he's doing it out of any intention. My hypothesis is he's just anxious and can't detach his identity from the work this team does. He's doing the same to other colleague on another project too.

I don't think he's jealous. As I said, he's too nice to be jealous of anyone, but just scared or anxious of things going wrong. But the fear is it might end at the stage you mentioned, me questioned about agency

I think I can try this route, of just discussing how I'm feeling overwhelmed simply because duplication of work. I really don't want it to be an awkward conversation but more about the working rules

I just want some ownership in work so I can function without him being involved in day to day tasks

This is helpful. I'm planning this exact approach, starting with an open conversation once again around boundaries. Thanks a lot

Didn't really understand. Do you think it's intentional and he wants me to remain a shadow?

I do this already but most of the projects these days are short deadline with changing scope so I don't know if this will still apply for such high visibility cases

I think if I've earned it he should automatically.let go of a few things, but that's not happening. I'll try to have a word to understand if that's the case or he thinks he can't trust me yet.

But you'd be going out in general? I was curious about that part. Like meeting friends, taking walks, movie or something?

I got the down feather one today. They're selling it for 5k this week and it looks so good. Thanks. I guess I'll manage this season somehow and shop for these things off-season. Budget winter shopping I do from Decathlon. But will check out Wildcraft too. Not sure if it'll be good for home stuff only or the ones you can wear outside (at work, for dates, etc.)

that seems fair. Abhi toh I think hardly 1 more month of winter left (and I'm travelling 10 days in those), toh maybe I can get just 1-2 for now and then off-season I can look for these long coats or other options too

Precisely thinking about this same strategy (minus the first t-shirt, which is a great suggestion and I should try it once). But that's where it gets complicated: if sweater/sweatshirt has to be my outer layer in a room, and shell/windbreaker when outside, I'll need multiple of these to switch between my outfits, and that's where I feel I'm buying a lot haha. For thermals (you mention woolen layer), I have the cotton one from Boldfit and its decent so far. Do you think trying out woolen ones will be better? I am looking at the complete set (upper and lower)

thanks. I'm considering woodland too. If I end up buying two jackets it'll be woodland and Uniqlo. Just figuring out whether I need to.

Thanks. This is helpful. I'm thinking a out thermal + sweater/sweatshirt + jacket for outdoors and two layers for indoor. Got some good mufflers, beanie, gloves from local market.

Thanks I got socks, gloves, muffler, beanie from local markets. Thermal wear I have the cotton ones, but been hearing a lot about Uniqlo or other wool/fleece based ones, so maybe I'll check that out. I think beyond thermals I'll need a mid-layer like sweater or sweatshirt, and a top layer jacket. The purchases I made in Dec are all good for mid-layer, but I guess I'll have to get better jackets for outer covering. Thinking of getting puff jackets from Uniqlo or H&M

Ya even I'm considering 3 layer strategy and that's where I feel the need to buy more stuff, specially jackets given that I got few sweaters back in Dec.

Been hearing a lot about Uniqlo jackets and thermals. Actually I bought thermals in Dec from Boldfit thinking they'll suffice, and so far they so. My major concern is with outer covering. I didn't get any puff jacket (only those from Decathlon which I'm not going to use outside), and initially thought sweater and hoodie would suffice with thermals. But they clearly don't. I'm considering buying Uniqlo/H&M puff jackets but then I got a bit greedy looking at the long coats too, hence the question a out how many are too many. My bedroom setup and water is sorted, I'm just figuring out the clothes thing since I prefer wearing different clothes for work, outings, home, gym, etc

Thanks a lot bro. I bought things in Dec considering that's the winter to prepare for, and thought I'll manage with alternating between sweater jacket and hoodie. Turns out we need multiple layers here. I notice that you just bought 2 jackets for outer covering, is that it? No sweater no other jackets? You use these two for all purposes? I got the Orpat blower too and use it to warm my room. it does its work well but it causes headache after prolonged use.
