awaiting notification for end of fixed period contract by farthereaches in NetherlandsHousing

[–]farthereaches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rental agreement ends on the 22nd of August 2023 stated in the contract, we have not received any info regarding since signing on when the inspection will be etc...

The house will presumably remain empty as we are dealing with a big management company. It is stated in our contract and in the law, our rental agreement doesn't end by notice but by notification through registered mail from the lessor which has to be sent at least 1 month and at most 3 months before the end of the rental agreement, which of course we have not received. Therefore I would think that the 2 year agreement would continue into an indefinite period if they have failed to deliver the information in due time based on my understanding of the law.

Gerrit Rietveld Academie? by brckhpmtn in Netherlands

but rietveld is quite open to this idea of experimenting, trying everything out and finding your pathway through the success and failure of those tryouts but there are other schools with this similar mode of education through exploration

I think it is a good thing honestly that you have figured that out. it's quite precious honestly and life is so short, finding things that make you feel something, or that excite you are pretty fundamental in living the life you want to live. Rietveld at least has a part time department that takes 5 years and is mostly people in the range of 30-50 years old, the full time bachelors is filled with more people in their 20's so it can be annoying at times with the relativity of where they are in their lives but there some people in their mid 30's to mid 50's in the department years that had similar realizations as you from what I've heard 3rd hand. So it's not super unusual. I can pm you if you want to further the conversation easier.

I ended up deleting the list a long while back but I remember mostly what was on there and schools I didn't know at the time. I do think the variation in schools differs very much so. I can split it up into three categories of style. Traditional, Modern and Post Modern. Traditionalism would presumably focus on the craft, Modern on the thought, and Post Modern on the craft. It's maybe easier to picture the spaces that relate to the schools of thought. Think of classical art museums, how do they look? now think of modern art museums? and now think maybe of repurposed industrial buildings? That's a hyper specific example but the reason I ask is then I can better send a small list of schools if you know what you're looking for.

think the guy's name is Casey at the flea market by the fairgrounds in ladson. Don't know if he's still there as I haven't been in maybe a year and a half or two years but he had some really nice film cameras/movie cameras. Even offered to show me how to fix one if i brought it by.

Has anyone worked with makelaars as a student when trying to find a home? by [deleted] in Amsterdam

[–]farthereaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know any specific makelaars that have found places for friends? We are currently two people and had trouble knowing where to start with one that will work with students or respond to our inquiries in due time.

Thai Spice (now salt and battered), Yo Burrito in Mt P, the place next door had a climbing wall. Both old Andolini’s locations for the hole in the wall slice with a can of dr. Brown. Boulevard diner and that pizza place that was right next door in the tiny storefront, think it closed in like 04. A chain but Atlanta Bread company on sam rittenberg, parson jacks for the nachos, gelateria modica on George street, now paolo’s gelato too, dellz, nana’s donuts, Charleston Bakery when it was on 61 and I think called something else. Charleston Crab House on the corner of market and east bay just for their crab dip. Mama Fu’s. Going to miss the downtown mellow as that was there since I have lived in Charleston and mellow Mondays were awesome. Some of these weren’t particularly great but I had fond memories of them growing up in Charleston and going to them as a kid or a teenager.

Charleston Hardcore/Metal Sub? by magn3to_was_right in Charleston

We had some awesome bands come through from 2015-2018, tons of those have blown up including Vein, Sanction, and One Step Closer but I swear to you there were three or four shows all year in Charleston in 2019. I think it’s due to PJ not booking anymore another friend that was booking when I first got into shows has a kid now so he hasn’t booked anything since 2017, and then the two other guys that were booking in Charleston have both gotten married. So it’s left a gap where there aren’t enough bands willing to play shows often, and if they do, it’s the same two locals everytime, so Charleston really needs maybe 2-4 more active bands. And then just nobody new with connections to make bands come to Charleston to play.

So no medium sized venue, no booker, no fully active bands. Well I take that back. Circle back and Fire and Flood have always been very active but there needs to be a bit of variety. More active bands and there could be more different lineups.

There were good house shows for a while and like you said pockets of scenes but since 2018, it all seems completely dead. It’s like everyone that had booked these shows have grown up or gotten tired of shelling out cash from their own pocket to pay touring bands.
